Just rewatched Winter Soldier and this time I noticed a well placed Pulp Fiction reference.

Almost as good as the Sam Jackson/Die Hard homage in The Incredibles.

A Mini. Lie back and think of England.

I'm getting straight into the pool after work tonight. I think Vegas is trying to kill us.
I'm "supposed" to work on the roof this weekend after losing some shingles during one of our gusty days. However had some contracting comps at the Cosmopolitan... So got a weekend getaway planned for me and the wife...(Completely planned and orchestrated to avoid working on the roof...no romantic intentions or anything of the sort. Total self preservation maneuver to avoid working in the Vegas sun.)
Does she see thru me? Of course she does...will she complain about a weekend out...never. It's a win.

Got a question that I'm unsure of proper placement: I realize that I'm ignorant on many subjects but the visuals of lollipop OS displays (cartoony pastel Easter egg colors & kindergarten kiddie scribble font) are driving me nuts. I don't think I'm OCD or anything (maybe I am & unaware..??) But why are so many manufacturers adopting this? It's not appealing for ppl (or JUST me?) into good graphics capabilities (i.e. PlayStation, Xbox, ect..) and higher education levels (physics and such) But it seems that almost everyone is doing it. What's the intelligence factor and mentality of this big shift? Kinda hard the take software/programming seriously when it looks like it was written by a kindergartener. Every time I look at a phone with that stuff on it I wanna destroy it. Literally. Not every phone has the ability to safely change fonts in Stock mode... so I'm truly confused and apologize for any offense taken

Well it seems to be an evolution that's been going on since the froyo days of theming when everything was glass, glossy or black glass...then when GB came out it seemed everyone was gravitating to a minimal/matte themes...muted colors or all black (matted blues was a beautiful CM7 theme back then). So I guess Google has been listening (watching) what goes on in the dev community as far as trends in theming... (Not to mention feature implementation from the dev community... Clever Google.) But on the whole I think aside from the ultra brightness of some colors this is pretty much what most users have always wanted Android to look like. Themers have been doing similar stuff for years...strictly an observation/opinion of a long time user. Not in no way saying (all) this is fact. [emoji4]

I certainly don't miss the appearance of Gingerbread. I did enjoy Holo when I upgraded from an S1 to my Nexus 4. But there are some things in JB and KitKat that I didn't care for....black status and nav bars being the worst offenders. I still hate that the nav bar is black most of the time.

oh OK. Ty-. I really loved the holo & CM9-10 stuff as well. I figured that all the black/transparent stuff was most excellent as far as screen heat and battery saving too. The fact that black is my favorite color is awesome to boot as far as CM themes go. If CM or theme engines were mandatory in all Android OS devices it would be a choice addition for ppl (with or without OCD issues) who just wanna customize/change skins. This freedom and capability of choice is why I proudly Rock an Android over all others. Thank you guys for the input as it helps enlighten my ignorance. [emoji56]

Try an alternate launcher like Nova or Go Launcher. That will let you hide at least some of the horribly ugly, elementary school style "material" design language being pushed by Google this week until they get bored and move on to something else.

That IS what I do for now. Running DarkHorse Nova. Was gonna upgrade the phone but became horrified at upcoming options, hahah. [emoji16] But wasn't aware that a different launcher by itself would be a different font.. [emoji41]
