Speaking of old stuff....my roommate is watching some really old movie from the early 60's about some girl who wrote a novel.......I think I'm going to fall asleep.

70s music was the best music decade ever

Best decade ever? It's a tough call. Overall the 70's were good. The 70's did bring us RUSH. But, it also brought us disco. While the 60's brought us Hendrix and Floyd.

Sadly, I don't think too many people today even know what music even is anymore. The majority of mus....er, stuff, around today, is basically choreographed noise.

The 60s was amazing IMO as far as the way rock was evolving and the whole singer/song writer scene .I mean thats the decade that gave us The Doors, Hendrix, The Who, Floyd, The Stones just to name a few...then we gave way to the disco era in the 70s but serious music was still around.
The 80s comes along and it was glam, hair metal, death metal, thrash, punk, pop and the beginning of commercially popular hiphop.
The 90s gave us grunge Nirvana, Sound Garden,(Chris Cornell one of the best voices in rock imo) the birth of industrial with Nine Inch Nails, White Zombie, Powerman 5000 etc and hip-hop was permanently cemented in our culture . The new 21st century gave us screamo, Mylie Cyrus, Bruno Mars and Justin Beiber and a 100 singing competition TV shows ...
We're devolving musically I think.
Are there some amazing singers and bands today? Absolutely but its not what it used to be.

Unfortunately, the music industry just doesn't have the star power like it used to anymore. Nowadays, its seems the record labels are only out there to make a quick cash in off of some untalented soul through exploitation. There's an overabundance of too many imitators and pretenders out there to deal with, instead of actual artists.

I don't even listen to anything beyond the early 2000's for reasons stated by others earlier. Even though it's typically discouraged to dwell on the past, music is definitely one of the rare exceptions. And as time progresses, I fear what could happen to the industry in future generations.
