It's an ongoing argument I have with Dngrswife: what I call chili consists of tomatoes, kidney beans, beef, onions, bell peppers, &etc flavored with chili peppers such as jalapeno and habenero.

She calls that 'beans'. Her idea of chili is either hamburger meat flavored with chilis (hot dog chili), or pretty much anything that features more than 50% chilis... It's a Southwest thing, I guess.
 
Grow or buy Hatch green chiles -

Roast until skin blackens and bubbles, remove skin, stems and seeds - eat.

Or, dry in sun until you get -

Take 25 to 50 or more, remove stems and seeds while rinsing, put in blender with enough hot water to puree - simmer on stove, adding water for desired consistency, with very finely minced garlic and some salt.

Has nothing to do with a good bowl of chili but it's awfully good. :D

so...was at a little get together last night talking with a friend of mine about my 'Holiday" adventures..he was so interested and thought it was just so clever..he's a creative director for a company that rhymes with schmoogle:rolleyes: so if they come out with some sort of "holiday in your head"something or other..
