So I've been conversing with some other contributors to the ZTE ZMAX, and there seems to be a consensus that our developer activity is lacking, largely due to the inexperienced nature of our user base. Now, I just finished my last paper for summer school, and the Fall semester begins on August 12th, which means I have a small but feasible window to offer some serious guidance on development related questions, but I need to know that there is interest. If I can get 25 "interested" votes in the question above, I will establish something to help with development. This does not mean that I will spoon feed you, and you won't be a master dev in a week, but this gets you going.

What you can primarily learn from me is how to compile kernels and create stock ROMs with custom features. The alterior motive is to (A) Create diversity in our ROM selection and (B) Help to get us a home on XDA. The reason I am pushing for XDA is because while I truly love AF, the structure and regulation of the sub-forums allows for easily accessible content. ROMs and kernels are mixed with a flurry of Q&As and discussion threads, making it hard to keep track of content. Also, an XDA home attracts more users, some of which may have developer experience.

Like I said, I'm willing to help, but I need a show of interest along (among other things). Please don't flood my inbox with questions just yet and please keep this thread on topic.

OK. A question about a building environment. I currently run an Asus rog. It has a secure uefi win 8.1 boot protocol. Now. Can I install a copy of Linux inside a VM environment to use as a setup for compilung? Or can I use win 8.1 itself?

You can but I would recommend against it. How much RAM and HDD space do you have?

I'm interested. I have a Intel i3 with 10GB of ram and and 360GB hard disk. Im running Ubuntu mate 15.04.

Currently 16 GB of ram with virtual memory disabled for performance reasons. I think I have close to 200 GB of HDD space free ATM. If needed I can clear up to 500 GB more.

Tbh I'm kind if waiting for windows 10 release so I can decide which O.S. I want to stick with in the outcome.

Sounds like a good rig to build on to me.

I'm running dualboot Linux Mint 17.2 & Windows 7.
HP Notebook w/
4Gb RAM & 500Gb HD (250Gb each OS)

Coming from somebody who had that exact setup at one point, except for the fact that it was Ubuntu and OSX, you will run your head into a wall from the poor performance. It can be done, though

Yes, I'm aware of super slow performance but at least upgraded the HD from 300Gb - 500Gb to better support the different OS's. I have a couple different kitchens as well for options. I also use Gimp on both OS's instead of Photoshop. Slow but reliable so far.. [emoji12] 1.25 hrs later? Deodexing an LP ROM.. Finishes

Its not. That 500 GB will dissapear real quick and the 16 GB of ram helps but not a lot. Its all about the really good processor. Google reccomends 1 tb
Lol I said its good because you have built so many ROMs that there aren't a whole.lot more to build, and I'm primarily instructing how to build kernels and stuff on a smaller note
