Root How to disable that damn system write protection

Unable to Mount system Is what it says. Glad that's normal. I get into the correct folder. I go into system/media/boot animations, make my changes then using my power button boot into twrp, flash restore, reboot system. Am I missing a step somewhere?
The file needs to be named bootanimation.zip and it has to be put in /system/media with the permissions set to rw-r--r--

Thank you for your patience with me lol, Is there a better file explorer you could suggest? I've done that as well (renaming the new boot image to bootanimation.zip) I also renamed the original boot image to bootanimation.zip.bak. Would the fact that I'm using the dark material theme in cm12.1 or the custom kernel I've flashed come into play at all?

Some themes have their own boot animation. Go into themes(system default) and make sure that boot animations is checked. Also, try the free version of root browser by Jrummy apps. I personally prefer root explorer and IMHO its the best file manager there is but root browser will get the job done.

Well I finally accomplished it. Lol my boot animation is now android pissing on apple. Booya! Lol thanks for all the help. You rock good sir

Solid, as far as I'm conserved

I had no issues other than my phone heating up when it was charging, i don't recall anything else.
I made the jump yesterday back to CM (I have used it since CM4 on a string of devices). I was really missing the vanilla-like simplicity. You are right, it IS solid. Are you on MetroPCS? If so, did you notice a slow down in your hotspot speeds after you crossed the 6GB threshold?

Yea I'm on metro. Been using cm a while myself. As far hotspot speeds, my data has slowed down all over the device, lol

Is there any videos on installing a Rom with these zips I'm not use to using switcher and restore zips I usually flash a Rom and gapps and that's it .just don't wanna brick my device I'm more of a video watcher than reading directions

U don't use these to intall a ROM. U only use the switcher after ROM gapps and any other zips to gain system r/w access. U only use the restore if u have used the switcher before flashing a new/updated rom updated gapps or making a backup/restore

If you usually just flash a rom and gapps then you dont need these files anyway. Their only purpose is to allow you to modify the system files. For example using titanium backup to delete system apps or using rom toolbox to change your boot animation.

@Masterchief87
ok i accidently did the advanced factory restored in twrp without using the restore zip before i did it.

how can i fix this?

1.when i boot into recovery it boots cm 12.1 all the way (WITH R/W PERMISSIONS TO THE SYSTEM FOLDER) and everything sticks when i edit the system files,,,,beacause i deleted a ringtone from the /system folder and REBOOTED AND LOOKED AND SEE IF IT DELETED IT AND IT DID
2.when i reboot normally it does nothing
3.i dont have twrp no more
4. i have the stock recovery from the stock rom of 4.4.4 metro pcs

Download twrp and try to reinstall it through the app
I CAN'T because the system.img is booting from recovery with R/W access.

If i do that i wont have an os anymore and that may lead to brick.

im scared to do it to be honest:(
Actually that is the easiest way to fix your problem. Install the zmax twrp apk, open it, install twrp recovery, reboot to recovery, flash the restore zip for your ROM.

Can anybody help me and explain how to give system write partition to freedom plss
NO.

1 Discussing the use of cracked or hacked apks, "patcher" apps, pirated copyrighted material, or any kind of hack that will allow you to purchase paid apps without paying or make in app purchases without paying or any other form of dishonesty will not be tolerated.

3 If you don't like apps that nickel and dime you with in app purchases then uninstall them or deal with it. Don't try to cheat the developers.
