Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

I'll betcha a jelly donut that VZW gets their own version of the EVO before the summer's gone. They always play it tight to the vest with their upcoming phones. I just can't see them letting Sprint have this bad boy to themselves.

They already do it's called the Incredible, they can't have a 4G phone yet with no network to back it up. The incredible is an Evo minus the 4G which they can't have and a smaller screen, same OS similar phone in almost very aspect.

I have the Incredible and the screen is not the EVO size. But I hear what you're saying. But can't a 3G/4G phone operate on 3G until 4G is available? I'm just asking because then I will have learned from this thread about that.

Well I was talking to a buddy of mine who works for Sprint and he told me to look out for the EVO the first week of June. :D

That's exactly what I said a smaller screen size, they can make a 3G/4G capable phone right now but what's the point? The network won't be ready for another year at least by then the phone will be outdated and new phones will be introduced, why go through the extra expense of a 4G capable phone now when the network won't be ready anytime soon?

I know that. I was curious if a VZW version of the EVO could operate on 3G until VZW has their 4G up and running?

It would have to have an LTE radio, and it wouldn't make much business sense.

Understood. I guess my query really was the possibility of VZW getting an HTC 3G phone with same specs as the EVO, particularly the screen size. Thank you for your replies.

Plausible... but I think they're getting the Samsung Galaxy S in a few months so that's pretty close to 4.3" and a hell of alot better if we only compare the screens.

Haha I had a somewhat similar T-Mobile story. While at the mall I stopped by the T-Mobile Kiosk to check out the HD2 because the screen is so amazing lol. I asked the guy to see if knew about the EVO just for the lulz and he told me that T-Mobile's "4G" was coming out later this year and that in some tests it was faster than Sprint's. Of course he couldn't tell me ANYTHING about the Phone itself that would stop me from getting an EVO.

I've been lurking for a good while, registered yesterday, and thought I'd just say hi. I am currently a T-mobile customer of 8 years w/ a BB 8900 (previously had an 8320). I was addicted to the crackberry, couldn't see myself w/ a touch screen phone, thought it would be too awkward to txt at a decent speed, especially w/ 1 hand. That was until I went to the T-mobile store and held the HD2 for a little. Felt great in my hands, I can palm a basketball, so the extra size is appreciated for my hand size. Then after constant EVO research and scouring the internet, I went to the Verizon store to thoroughly MOLEST the Incredible to get my fix to tie me over until the EVO is released. I was AMAZED at how easy it was for me to text, my friend did the exact same thing hours before. He texted me from the phone and said "OMG This thing is so damn sexy! I gotta put this down before I get sucked into overpaying for Verizon! (7+ year Sprint customer).

I originally saw myself getting the BB9700, but the 3G coverage around home and work is too spotty to lock myself to them for another 2 years. My contract ended May 1st of this year. When the 1st Gen iPhone came out, I thought about getting it unlocked for T-Mobile when the price was around $250, but I stuck w/ my Nokia N80 and other S60 Nokia smartphones, because all of the hassle to deal w/ wanting to upgrade w/o bricking the phone.

I work in Kissimmee, FL and Sprint users get the best signal. The signal strength in my office building goes in the following order: 1. Sprint 2. Verizon 3. AT&T 4. T-Mobile. I do calls over Wifi though, and get 100% signal, yet our wifi does have its drops and glitches, and it doesn't seamlessly hand over my signal to the cellphone towers (There's a ~20 sq ft dead spot around the front and rear entrance).

I am leaving T-Mobile for the EVO and not looking back. The amount of dropped calls (due to the spotty coverage in Central Kissimmee and UMA-wifi calling losing connection or handing to the dead spot outside of the building) and the dropped calls around my home in Clermont is flat out embarrassing. Even w/ Opera Mini, browsing some websites w/ the BB 8900 is just not as good as an experience as a touch screen phone, especially an android! I have a good amount of friends w/ Sprint at work and in Clermont that have great signal with Sprint, one of them being a friend that lives next door to me and has a Hero. A good friend of mine and I are talking about BBQ and a few drinks the day we both get the phone, neither of us have never anticipated a phone this much! VIVA LA EVO!!!

sorry for the long first post, just introducing myself and giving a little background!

For what? To prove you are annoying without a reasonable doubt?
well to be honest, i didn't join the forum very long... when i did, all i heard was jackson, rebella, and bluescreen. Just want to find out all the info that jackson release previously and why everyone gives him so much credit for his sources.

this is for my own reference. i'm not going to try to discredit the things that he say, nor will i continue to post my findings. rest assure, this thread will stay on topic from here on out. i do not want this place to get locked either

welcome sirloin. hope you enjoy the forum...

the circles are not inlcuded on the shipping model

Then why does every publicity picture have them? Why were they on the phone in the hands on video posted 2 days ago? I mean after all that was a "finished phone" as you yourself have said the phone is done.

The circles will be there and it's ok, they are only part of the backlight! It's ok to be wrong as this is a "speculation" thread. And as shown above you have been wrong in the past although some people choose to ignore it. It's cool though... you know, as long as your "1000 likes =]]]]" keeps going up!

I too find this statement peculiar seeing as which EVERY phone we've seen has had the circles.

I think this will be a nice measuring stick for my curiosity. If Jackson truly has inside info, he will be spot on here; he is pretty definitive on his post...there's no maybe about it. If wrong, well...I'll leave that to you to decide :D

I can't wait to post a video on qik right from my Evo! that is going to be awesome!!!

the pre supports 4G as does the moment i believe

hey supersonical,

i thought the evo would be the first phone on the market with wimax 4g, so how exactly will the pre and moment support 4g? are you saying this is software or hardware support that will allow them to utilize 4g? i think i know the answer, but i'd love to hear your take on the technical aspects of the 4g capabilities of the palm pre and samsung moment.

no possible way. palm pre and moment as i recall do not have the hardware capable of receiving and sending through 4g bandwidth. HMMM

Well it looks like you are trying to start something!!

If you really search he also said later that it would come with 2.1 modified!!!

Stop trying to start something. You have been reported too!!

Its like every week we have 1-2 people joining just to try to prove that Jackson is wrong. Again he gets his info form his friend. His friend cant control what sprint does, so if they change something on his friend is not going to say hey wait sprint you cant do that I already told my friend about that and he posted in androidforums.com...... Sounds silly right. You all do too.
