Help City ID... how do you uninstall?

Can anyone comment on this? I posted it up above but didn't get any responses.

For those of you getting nagging/reminders to subscribe, are you using a task killer and shutting the app down? I personally don't use a task killer and have never received a subscription/nag/reminder thingy.

No task killer for me, but I also have not received a nag recently. I received a nag for the first time after my 3rd or 4th call maybe. At that point, it seemed like I received 2 or 3 more in quick succession, like every other call or something like that.

I haven't seen one since though.

I'd like to be able to delete this pos from my phone entirely, not just let it reside useless after the trial. It's a total money grab

From what I gather, if you don't start the CityID trial, you don't get nags. Moral of the story, don't.

I'm 90% sure I never opened the app myself, but I can't be 100% certain that it didn't get clicked accidentally while I was playing around the first day or something.

I knew what it was and that it was trial-ware before I got the phone though, so I certainly would not have intentionally clicked on it to find out what it was or anything like that.

Right now I just wish 15 days would be up so I could get that ever so enticing option to actually click the beautiful, seductive NO button!

It's going to bother me until I see that happen. I just worry that I'm going to get another nag screen when I'm drunk some night and accidentally sign up for it.

Unfortunately, this will never happen unless you root the phone. It's built in the ROM, so there's no "temporary" storage to remove it from.

I have opened it only twice to check my days remaining in the trial... it has consistently said 14 days. I do kill it anytime I see it in task killer and have never gotten a nag message.

Hmm, so I guess this is a result of me killing the task whenever I see it, because my CityID still shows a button for 15 days...

This is especially annoying for me since i still use city caller id, basically the same thing thing but free. Its no longer being developed because Cequint sued the developer. They will never get a cent from me... Man I can't wait for root.

does the free alternative work the same way as city id? i read somewhere that it causes a lag issue is this still a problem?

Everyone, Just keep killing CityID with your task killer OR Force Close it manually and you will continue to use this service for free....People that use task killers won't even get the annoying message. At least this is a way to outsmart the forced service.

Hi to everyone =) Well, I am the WCPT developer. I don't understand why people uninstall the program if they see wrong country - there is a button "report a bug" in the menu. Contact me and I'll explain what's wrong, or fix the program to make it better for everyone.

Main problems are:
people doesn't know what gmt (utc, time zone) is. No comments
people doesn't know their country code or enter wrong country code. No comments
local numbers dialing rules different from that, which my app knows. Contact me and I'll see what can I do to fix it as fast as I can type (and I type really quickly ;)

There are tens of paid apps which do the same task much worse than my free app with unique hand-made local database do ) and there are 5000 downloads today. The rating of this app doesn't reflect the essence of comments on the market. If you wish to see all comments - go here WorldCallPlaceAndTime - Cyrket

Atrant, Our biggest gripe isn't about WCPT, it's about CityID which came as a pre-installed app with our phones. We cannot uninstall or remove it until we can root our phones :(

I've had city id on previous phones and once free trial period was over, the subscribe ads stopped too. I like seeing where the phone # calling is from, but not worth paying for!! I quess we'll see shortly. I'm looking forward to rooting this phone, hopefully soon!

City ID is worthless - only shows the city and state and there is a monthly fee. I'm using Super Caller ID which shows the name and address of the caller. One time fee (€2.99). I like it alot.

I've just got here from google search and seen that my app is an alternative to the City ID. But users think it doesn't work for many people and want uninstall it. this has really hurt me )) Is there a theme about wcpt? ))

I just sent the makers of City ID a nice email thanking them for their FREE app. I explained how I read that app killing it resets the trial time.

I could have just emailed them complaining about the service being forced onto my phone but nothing gets a company moving like money. If they realize we are all getting the service for free, maybe they'll pull it from the phones and think twice about doing it again (wishful thinking).

Either way, it's fun to know they are probably flipping out trying to program a solution.

Lol..good job on telling them we're getting it for free? j/k..was going to remove it anyway when the phone gets rooted but still....

It seems that the app "appbrain market sync" gives an option to uninstall it. But since i have 9 more days of the free trial left might as well use it all up before I try to uninstall it. If someone can back to me if it's successful or not that would be cool.:D

I found from another thread that if you do a Force Close and clear the data, the free trial will start over and you can continue using for free. Only issue is that you will continue to get BS nag screens...

I can confirm this works. I had 5 days left on my trial. Forced close and cleared the data. Went back into look at subscription status and it now says 15 days left in trial. Awesome!
