Random Thought Thread

Why am I being recommended train apps all of a sudden? They telling me I might want to go somewhere?

I need to completely rehab or downright replace my pellet stove... needs a new door gasket, thorough cleaning out, and I need to pull the controller and repair it.
 
I am a terrible person.

Let me rephrase that: some people would regard me as a terrible person.

Some of you may know that I've been trying to get a bit of a pay raise. I had gone so far as to apply for jobs outside the company (and not prevent certain reactive people from finding out), and induce my lead to suggest to the management that perhaps there was not enough leadership in certain areas (leadership which I am qualified to provide, of course).

Well, it worked, and it didn't. They didn't create the lead position I was hoping to get, but they did make one for the night shift, and created other supervisory positions for which I shall apply. These are desk jobs with some travel, but but hey, pay raise.

Overall, probably less work. Me moving out of the shop would create more work for my friend, Tangentman, though.

Tangentman knows my plans, and while he can't really fault me, I know he doesn't look forward to me leaving. He's toyed with the idea of leaving himself, but he's well-entrenched. He's talked before about moving back to night shift, where he would 'only have to wear one hat' (a particular bone of contention between those of us on day shift in our shop and the management, as I've noted before), and that's become almost a running joke with the management.

Well, there's this new lead position for night shift. Tangentman mentioned casually that maybe he's should apply for it.

I told him to go for it: "dude, you've got nothing to lose and everything to gain." I told him, if anything, he'd be more relaxed, get a little pay raise... The worst thing about it would be working nights.

Besides, I told him, even if he were not given the job (or he turned it down), it would shake up the management big time. With the both of us gone, the shop would go straight to hell... We are the only guys who can do certain things.

So, yeah. I convinced him that he should seriously apply for the position, and we are going to sit back and watch the fireworks.

Personally I think that is great!

Honestly, sometimes I think that management needs to be shown...

Yeh, 200 MPH bullet train.

2 hours Jinan to Beijing, CRH.
7 hours Beijing to Moscow, Aeroflot.
3 hours Moscow to London, Aeroflot.

Direct flights Beijing to London, like British Airways or Air China are about twice the price. I could do the whole journey by train if I wanted, trans-Siberian, etc.

Dumb move on my part redoing my kitchen now
I'm sooo over it! And everybody get out of my house!!! Although it is starting to look pretty awesome! :)
Marble counter tops are so pretty:) er not real marble ... Too much upkeep
But engineered stone marble:) rocks
Plus my new sink and commercial faucet
And love love love French door fridge!
I have zero decorating taste... But maybe ... Just maybe I do!:) subway tile back splash next week
Can't decide if I want white or light grey grout
Leaning towards white
Ughhh see that's what happens when your parents and siblings are all artistic blessed and me? Not so much

But... As I alwAys like to say... Screw it! It'll all work out just fine:) no better than fine .. Totally awesome!!!
