It can't handle the load. Donate money or become a premium member so they can get a big server upgrade.
Back when the Droid got its update, some guy posted that he got it, and he got flammed because he accepted it right wawy instead of sharing.
So with that, everyone expected the eris to happen soon also, and a thread was made with directions on what to do in order to share it with everyone first.
I just tried searching for that thread with no luck. Maybe you or someone else can find it.

I'm at work right now, otherwise I'd be more than willing to search the forum for that thread or those instructions. If someone reposts them here, I'll save them to a .txt file on my desktop and refer to them should I get the update. I'll PM a mod so I can share the file with a trusted user (if they haven't already gotten the file themselves) so the update is verified and filtered to the masses cleanly.

My phone seems to be doing an awful lot of downloading... for no apparent reason! Downloading the update maybe??
No. And if this follows the pattern of the Droid OTA, I wouldnt expect to see anything until late tonight or tomorrow.
Im pretty sure they didnt send out the OTA until 11:59pm for the Droid.

I'm friends with HTC on Facebook (we went to high school togehter, and their update at around 6am this morning said the update starts today, it is random, and should be finished in 2 weeks. If someone already posted this then I apologize and have a great excuse, I'm on my lunch break.
I am not sure if anyone has posted this. But they do mention the new update on the verizon site. They have two pdfs one with the benefits and the other info on how to install once you see the notification. Here is a link Software Update: DROID Eris by HTC<br>Coming Soon!

The 15th is my husbands birthday, so that's when I predict we'll be getting the update.

You'll know, this is how I picture the chain of events:
1) Someone will post that they just received the OTA
2) Several people will call the OP a liar and ask for pics as proof
3) The OP will ask how to take screenshots
4) More people will call BS on the OP, maybe someone will explain how to do screenshots
5) OP will post screenshots of updated phone
6) OP will then be belittled for being selfish for upgrading instead of holding off and sharing OTA file
7) Rinse and repeat
OR We'll have to wait to hear from someone who didn't upgrade to leak v3
(just kidding.... i hope)
