2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

More people claiming to get it

Its good news that out of less than 7,000 people in that facebook group, 2 have already reportedly received it.
Likely means that they are sending it to a lot of phones rather than just 1,000 like what happened with the Droid.
Now I am getting anxious. Before I wasnt really expecting to hear anything until tomorrow, but it does appear to have already started.

Is there a code to dial on our phones we can check for the update?

Until someone on this forum gets it I am going to assume no one has it....

TDianna: you can allegedly force your phone to look for it with

*#*#checkin#*#*

(checkin = corresponding dialpad numbers)
 
I've been watching the Eris forum since 2.1v1 came out. There have been a lot of ups and downs and I've learned a lot about my phone. I'm glad to be officially on board! Thanks! Come on OTA!

The code is:
*#*#CHECKIN#*#*

However I have done this multiple times today, and I am not sure what the point of it is, because it certainly did not pull any updates in. For apps or the OTA.

Nanobioman: @VZWSupport my friend has the leaked versoin of 2.1 will he still be able to recieve the ota and instal it?

ScottFL386: @VZWSupport If we have already upgrded our Eris w/the LEAKED update, will we still get the notice of an update if our firrmware is the same?

Use appmonster to backup, & atrackdog to reinstall from market. I've done it many times, It works fine. Both apps are free. Note:this doesn't work for copy protected apps such as paid apps, but apps are backed up to your Gmail also so you should be able to get them by going to my downloads in the market at no extra charge.

The upside to this is that the OTA will either be posted on Verizon's website for download or someone will post it here, or both. Don't give up yet my friend!
 
All that twitter page does is makes me wonder why its so popular... everything is disjointed and you have to do multiple clicks to see one conversation. Seems like twitter reduces the web back a few years.

Just MHO. lol.

Hopefully the VZWSupport team's track record will remain true. They are either untrustworthy, or just uninformed. I would more likely trust the "Varsity" Members in this forum, before anything.
