2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

So it deleted the update?
you don't see a zip there?
I know its a long shot but thought i would ask.

Just checked. There is no zip. Nothing out of the ordinary. A number of other posters and I asked if there was some way to save the file but we got no response. If I knew, I would have most definitely saved it for everyone.

Just a reminder if you get he OTA notification follow this guide
to get everyone a direct link to the OTA, this will help both rooters and leakers alike
Leakers about the OTA - xda-developers
that shows you how to sniff what your phone is doing during the OTA process, and puts it into a txt then we can look where it went to get the update, once we know where to get it everyone will be able to download it and wont have to wait for OTA to come in.

Same old song different day. I guess OTD got it wrong again.

There is no reason for you to make a disparaging remark like that about OTD.

Admittedly, it is a rather mild comment, but it is disrespectful and implies, absurdly, that she's wrong on a regular basis here.

I'll take her and Caddyman's opinions, speculations and guesses over just about anyone's here, not to mention their spot on factual knowledge, any day.

Say you're joking or just frustrated or something. Perhaps an apology, as well. ;)

I'm wondering if the OTA is rolling out based on the purchase date of the device.

..or any other rhyme to their reason. Most likely just random.

I remember everyone trying to figure out a "pattern" when we got MR2... with no luck. I wonder if they would follow the same pattern with this OTA.

I speculated last time if it has anything to do with the MEID? But The realist in me is saying that the really is no rhyme or reason. It really is just random. Well at least as random as statistics would allow ;).

Which makes me wonder how the "randomness" is arrived at.. other than a true random number generator with device phone numbers entered in as data.

I purchased my phone on Ebay and activated it in Feb of this year. Received update yesterday.

January here.

It ain't purchase date, then.

What's your phone number? Maybe it's in numerical order.

Mine's 999-999-9999. I should get my OTA in 2012 or so, I figure.

I would guess it would be based on network resource allocation and utilization, same as any corporate wide software upgrade. My son does that kind of thing for a large insurance company. I could ask him if anyone really wanted to get into the dirty boring details.

Anyone running a leaked version happen to get an update yet? Just trying to get an idea if the people running the v3 leak are being skipped over or not.

With as many phones as they have to send out the staged roll out to, I wouldn't think they'd be wasting server bandwidth by doing a software check on each and every phone before sending the update message, but you never know. Then again my girlfriend manually updated her droid when they did the OTA/OTW release of 2.1 and I don't remember seeing her get a notification.

Oh well, hopefully I'll have an update notification waiting for me after I get back from my wedding in the Bahamas. Figures they wait until now to start doing a two week roll out.
