Help Moment 2.1 Update Thread

Where are you seeing this? I went there and all I see is CL14

It still says CL14 but trust me, if you click the "Download" link (and wait FOREVER for it to download), then go to the "Samsung Electronics\SWUpgrade\Models\Binary" in your Program Files folder it will contain the "SPH-M900_MR2_DE03_REL_1.tar.md5" file.

I reccomend completely uninstalling your current SWUpgrade program and your currently installed drivers for your phone. I was having a hell of a time doing the update with what was already installed. I uninstalled everything Samsung (that may have been related to my phone) and started over from scratch with the new Update program and the new DE03 file. It worked perfectly!

When going into the "About The Phone" on my Moment it shows the DE03 update.

Anyone happen to know if you can still root with the official update? I was just getting ready to take the plunge and do the unofficial upgrade and I saw this post! Well hooray it's out but I think I will see till there is confirmation that we can still root if we want to. It would be nice to get rid of all the crapware. (grin)

TIA:D

From what I've seen here you can still root.

You're under the assumption that DD03 and DD10 are the latest builds they're testing. I'd imagine if those got leaked, they are ones they have moved beyond. DD10 is actually pretty good outside of the CDMA hangup that drains the battery. Using it as a wifi device, I've had zero issues which does kind of defeat the purpose ultimately, but considering they have newer builds, I'm sure that one issue has been solved. Would be interesting to know what issues are still there.
With that said, it's very frustrating that Sprint isn't lighting more of a fire under HTC and Samsung to get this done. It's totally obvious from DD03 and DD10 that they aren't really close yet, but how about a decision on what is "BETTER" than the CL14 experience.

Just my thoughts...

still disappointed. email still sucks. no imap folder support. gmail isn't integrated. and native exchange doesn't sync the calendar or tasks. And i don't care for K9 since it never syncs my mail properly. Guess the Evo is a definite now. Will be putting my Moment on ebay soon.

And the update screwed with my voicemail, now my Pre keeps getting this stupid visual voicemail text message, and I have to deactivate it, activate the Moment, setup voicemail, deactivate the Moment and reactivate my Pre. What a F'n pain in the *ss at 1am. My Moment isn't even activated and it somehow did something with visual voicemail. That's just messed up.

Wow! definitelly an improvement!... However... first thing I am noticing is the lights go out in about 5 secs!...Is this normal??:o

Then I called voicemail to reset it, and the call got frozen so I had to restart the phone... I have a feeling its going to be a long night...

Now market application is not working...what a pain in the a**!

I am not sure what everyon's issues are. I donwloaded it last night. Added recovery 3.0.8 I believe it is now and rooted. So far the battery life is a great improvement. The last week and a half the battery was only lasting 5 hours maybe. So far already had a 40 min call on the way to work and it still says 100%. It will take a few days to get everyone's feedback. It seems to work great right now though. Hold off a few days before theming. Want to get a good assesment of battery life first. I have removed Sprint TV, Nascar, NFL, Launcher (added helix back), and Photos and Places using root explorer. Gonna add the flan gallery back tonight and live wallpaper's as well as my boot animations. and custom boot logo. Anyone tried to see if bluetoooth File transfer allows connection to push data and not just audio for music or calling?

Anybody know if I can have a sprint store do this? I am not the brightest when it comes to these things .... well not that they are either....

crap.... stuck at the updating screen, and 'ready' on the progress bar, along w/ cpu usage from updater, but been this way for awhile and nadda. is it ok to disconnect phone, reboot, and try again?

think i will also remove sw upgrade and reinstall, as when I uninstalled the previous one (cl14), I did not reboot before installing the new one.

ok, totally started anew; removed everything previous. reboot. installed update. reboot. still stuck at updating screen. 0% progress on the bar, just 'ready'.

anyone else experiencing this?

Battery pul and start over again. Some people have issues and it can take a few tries. It took me to two tries but i have heard some say 4 or 5 tries. Just make sure you have the right file loaded and not md5 but .tar if you using the old updater from cl14. Let us know if anything else happens.

Guys/gals,
I know "most" of you are excited with Sprint releasing 2.1. I am currently sitting happy with DD10(got every fix I could find in SDX) except for the CDMA lockup. I'm not sure what the improvements are between the official DE03 release and DD10 and therefore not that eager to reflash my Moment. Is there a link that points out the improvements? I will flash only if a majority of the users say the CDMA lockup is gone for good in the official release.

def. a few tries. the problem replicated on a win 7 64 'puter. i nailed it down to a quirk in usb composite device installing fine, but then not working properly when phone makes connection, requiring one go into to device manager, and reinstall the driver. eventually it took, and the process was 110 secs. Now I'm just trying to get this BT OBEX file transfer working and it's proving to be a headache. But like the fresher look on market, the better designed settings menu, and hopefully fewer quirks.

now that 2.1 is outta the way, the challenge is really bluetooth. was looking forward to pushing some photos to my bluetooth folder and vice versa as a proof of concept with eclair... sad that my dumbphones still handle this more seamlessly and w/o much problem.

vanilla bt in eclair is a no go for working, not that it would never be adequate anyway since the share menu is crippled w/o 'send to BT'.

therefore, anybody had any amount of luck w/ bluetooth file transfer app? I cannot get it to work either. running broadcom 2045 usb bt (rocketfish dongle) w/ widcomm stack, and even when I manage to set up a pair, any attempt to send a file in either direction ends in failure.

edit: removed app, tried for the upteenth time to set up in vanilla app. but wouldn't send files after correct pairing. installed bft. now transfer works w/o setting up again in bft (guessing it follows native bt app pairings); haven't tried readding the missing bt profiles lost in the crosswire, but what a pita.
