I haven't ordered yet either. I'm going to wait on Monoprice. I'm sure they'll have one out soon. Hell, it might be out before the damn phone is.

Out of curiosity how much did you have to put down?
I posted a few pages back about my solution to try and ease the pain of the additional $10/month for the Evo by requesting the same 10% discount on my contract that Sprint offered me a couple years ago.
Rather than just asking for that discount, I went for the credit union discount instead. For anyone who doesn't know, Sprint offers a 10% discount for being a member of a credit union (pretty sure ANY credit union). I just went to the Sprint store, they glanced at my membership card for 5 seconds and added the discount to my account (should apply in 1-2 billing cycles). In and out in five minutes. I tried to do it over the phone first but the lady tried to spell Michigan with an 's' ... not sure I could trust her.
Anyway, go join a credit union if you're not already a member of one and get your 8 bucks (if you're on the $70 plan) knocked off!![]()
Does sprint still offer the $70 dollars credit per line when you choose to renew your contract?

No one knows whether the discounts apply to the $10 surcharge.

Can someone please explain this to me and how you would get it? I've been with Sprint longer than I can remember, just dropped from 4 lines down to 3 with countless renewals and new phones purchased and I've NEVER gotten anything like that.![]()
Hey guys I sent an email to Dan Hasse yesterday regarding dumping sprint due to the $10 fee and someone from his office they claim anyway just called me back regarding my email. It was a funny discussion where the rep knew all the info about the fee but after I started asking her questions like why am I not being charged that $10 fee on my HTC Hero that is almost an identical phone just less powerfull she said well you can watch movies on the evo, it was just funny when I told her ok I can do that on my phone and my last 5 phones I've owned through sprint but anyway, its a loose loose situation. They are not going to do anything about it and thats it eventhough at the end she didn't know hereself why they are charging the $10 fee after all my questions. It was just kind of funny.
You need to call them and specifically ask for it. Tell them you're out of contract & would like to renew your contract for 2 years and get a $70 statement credit. Sometimes you'll get it right off the bat, sometimes you'll need to keep calling back. But essentially they'll renew your contract for 2 years, you get a $70 credit & you get to keep your $150 upgrade credit.
This is how it works for individual plans. I can't speak to the family plans, though I'd be willing to bet it'll work on the primary lines. I doubt you'll get $70 per additional line though.
You should have asked for the recurring $10 credit.
I am going to assume you mean lte and not lte-a.
They will charge nothing for lte. Nothing per month. Why?
Because they are going to just open up 3g to make it a little faster. Up to 4.5mbps. This is what Tmobile is doing with hspa+. They will suffer from bandwidth issues and have to practical max use to 1.2mpbs.
In the near future, 2012, they will start to use release 9 which will start to crank it up to 2.3 mbps. After that they will need to shut down voice services. Once the remove voice services, 2015-17?, they wil open up to release 10 which will offer speeds up to 5mbps. Some time after that, 2018-2020, they will over 4-8mbps. When voice is removed you will only be charged for data.
I need to add a few things, the road map for lte is really a mess. It was suppost to be at release 8, 1.5 years ago. But that has been pushed off to the future. The current status of lte in europe is hopeless. 800mhz for uk, 1.3ghz for france, 2.5ghz for germany.
The same goes for wimax. Wimax will not run at 4-8mbps everywhere.
When I first got wimax, the connection was 40kbps, in 2007. After that it has slowly creeped up. Just yesterday, I was getting 33mbps. This will be the same for most build outs.
When any place goes live, accept the speeds are going to be down in the 1.2mbps and over the next few month and years later it will increase.
But to answer your question, they are just going to rebrand 3g, to 3.5g. They may charge a price for that, but I doubt it.
When lte-a is here, they will be only charging for data. That is the trick with lte, it requires all voice bandwidth to be converted to data signals.
You wonder why wimax is soo important! It will have to backhaul lte.
No and yes.So are you saying in a few years we'll be saying bye bye to CDMA and GSM in favor of WiMAX and LTE?
a little correction about tmobiles hspa and hspa+. tmobile already has hspa 7.2mbps running on most if not all their 3g network. hspa+ will be 21mbps. with hspa 7.2 you will get around 2mbps. I just did a test this morning with results at little more than 1.5 mbps in NY. tests done in Philadelphia, which is tmos test market for hspa+, results in a little more than 5mbps. they are still working things out. the good thing about this for tmos customers is that current phones will get another speed bust when hspa+ is completed, just like when they rolled out 7.2.
I did and she wasn't interested, I told her well I'll be dumping both of my lines for the iphone and she started comparing the plans. I told her but I have a choice I don't have to get all the junk sprint offeres like sprint tv and nfl.
Oooh she also said Dan Hasse like to compare the Evo to a high definition tv.
I told yes I own a high definition tv but I have a choice through my satelite company to buy high definition service, but with sprint I have no choice. She was pretty stumped. LOL

If I was you, I would pre-order the evo and test out the service. You have 30 days if you like it just have you number ported over.
Are you out of contract?? This is my post from last night:
Man...that was soooo easy. Just got off the phone with sprint and they will discount my monthly plan by $10 once I get the EVO. I went on sprint chat and they couldn't do the $10 monthly credit for 24 months and they confirmed that yes i should call retention department. The rep in retention knew what was going on. He said he had done like 40 so far. I pre-ordered the EVO this morning from Best Buy so when I go to pick it up the sprint rep said all they have to do is activate the phone and I am all good!!! Hopefully this will all go through without a hitchI will be paying the same as right now with my junk BB pearl and getting more value. Bring on the EVOlution![]()
Here is the retention number 1-888-211-4727

Don't worry I am sure when Verizon gets 4G it will be $30 a month mandatory.would i be able to request for $70 dollar credit (per line) for contract extension if i swap out 3 SERO lines to one EPRP Family Plan? Would I still be able to keep my $150 upgrade credit (for each line)?

hey sorry guys been busy. Mkampy thanks for helping SHO_ONE! This cable is really high quality. I'm kind of shocked how really tiny Micro HDMI is. I don't even see the point of making Type A HDMI if they can shrink it down to this size and get the same audio/video quality LOL. Monoprice doesn't have these yet and did someone really say they saw it at best buy for $70??!
Just preordered today at Radio Shack. Mostly painless experience though the cashier had absolutely no clue the company was accepting orders starting today. 15 minutes later I've got my Shack gift card and a mile-long receipt!
