Help Moment 2.1 Update Thread

Installed, rooted, themed and bloat removed.

I like my phone a whole lot more today than I did yesterday. I also noticed that Pandora seemed to work rather well for the fist time (for me anyways).

Now all I need to do is add more homescreens and I'll be just fine. Three just isnt enough.

Personally, I'm still having trouble with the market. I cannot get the protected apps to show up. I have been doing the "time change" trick on it about twice per hour for the last 7 hours. Still nothing

i upgraded my moment last night and to people having issues with the loading i had that too and it may seem fishy but i didnt restart download i unplugged the usb and plugged it in and it was done in 114 seconds and i was wondering to people who have got the sprint update has anyone had problems with there video camera not recording?

anyone lose the ability to add contacts? gmail syncs fine but that's not what I want. when i add a contact, it simply does not show up on my contacts list.

Seems like Samsung left out the fix for CDMA lockup. Many people have already experienced it with the Sprint 2.1 release. This should have been a "critical" CR for Samsung developers.

Wow! definitelly an improvement!... However... first thing I am noticing is the lights go out in about 5 secs!...Is this normal??:o

Then I called voicemail to reset it, and the call got frozen so I had to restart the phone... I have a feeling its going to be a long night...

Now market application is not working...what a pain in the a**!

UPDATE REPORT:

Battery life better now... Still not satisfactory, but will do the procedure of running it to 0% and recharging fully 3x see if that helps.

I haven't noticed anything wrong with the light since I turned the phone off and on a couple of times.

Call to voicemail is working fine now after reboot.

Market app working fine after reboot...

I am a happy camper again!:D

Am I just not seeing it? In 1.5 I had rintones for specific contacts, but now with 2.1 I don't see this feature.

So far I'm not impressed with the official 2.1

I know it's working great for some, so don't bother with the "it works for me" responses, but the list of problems for me keeps getting longer.

  • Moxier no longer works I get an "I/O-related error.(-16)" when trying to get it configured
  • Lots of apps now FC, Flixster, List buddy, Beautiful Widgets, etc.
  • I no longer get sound or vibrate feed back on virtual keyboard
  • Still get lots of CDMA lockups
  • back of phone gets hot after installing 3 or 4 apps in a row

I've reloaded the phone twice and still having problems. Not sure what to do next other then take it back to Sprint. Any suggestions????

Just turn that feature back on under Settings > Language & keyboard > Android Keyboard.

How in the world does this thing download. I get all the way to the end and it gets stuck at ready. Don't tell me to try again, I am on attempt number 20 all with the same response.

No one has posted how to get past the [DEBUG] SetupConnection. How long is this stupid thing supposed to take?

I had to reinstall the Samsung drivers to get it to work.

On the plus side, after 6.5 hours I still have 80% on the battery, but I'll will go back to the older os and crappy battery if I can't get the other issues fixed

This should have been the number one issue addressed....makes me wonder if this isn't really a hardware problem.

Quick question:

Do you have to connect to internet to do the install on the Moment after you've downloaded the exe to your computer?

We use a mac as our home pc and my only Windows computer is the office lappy that has a firewall. Not sure if that will cause complications?

I have the file and instructions downloaded but have been hesitant to run the install because I was afraid I'd run into some firewall issue that will brick me or something.

thanks,
ryu

No internet connection needed to load the new firmware. Just follow the instructions.

I used Win 7 to load/flash the new firmware. First and second trails failed because Win 7 would not send the files to phone even the com4 was connected. Re-boot the Win 7 pc and third time was successful. It took about 110 seconds to flash.

Now I have 2.1 loaded, I noticed tithering was very slow, much slower than when it was on 1.5. I am using Azlink, not sure if 2.1 havie any thing to do with the slowness. Also, the phone got very warm too when loading and running appl's.

I currently use Handcent, and now after my 2.1 update, I can't seem to figure out how to disable the standard messaging system. So now I get double texts again. Can anyone help me out?
