Minor bug with thread titles. You can use carriage returns and they save in the app. They don't render on the site and a site thread edit removes them.

Is there a way to prevent crlf characters in the thread title via the app?

Yeah, do you have an example thread?

EarlyBird News features such as read more and source links as well as article image

I noticed two issues with this.

First, the cover image for a story takes up a significant amount of screen real estate (which is already at a premium thanks to the giant font ;) ) but it isn't scroll-sensitive. You have to scroll on the text area below it in order to view the comment thread.

Second, pull-to-refresh seems to be broken for these threads. The image hangs around, but the rest of the content goes blank - and stays that way until you back out of the thread and then go back into it.

Nice fix on the crlf. Thank you sir. Any idea on this? No room between the thread title and keyboard for entering thread content.

Still need a way to browse all the forums without having to add them as favorites. All you see when you hit "+" is a list of forum names without any way to open and read them unless you subscribe to the one you want to read. This is a major shortcoming and difference between the new app and Tapatalk (and the old TT based app).
Also it for downloads (such as posted app updates) there is no option to do the download within the app, it wants to open an external browser or other app. Again this worked in TT.
The bigger font size is more readable but IMO it's only necessary in individual threads when you open them. The preview text in the recent posts list can remain small so as to allow for more previews on the screen with less scrolling needed, with the larger font size depending on thread content I'm only seeing one or two at a time. Also maybe just show a preview of the first one or two lines from the most recent post, I'm seeing a lot more of that. (This is another thing that TT gets right, are you seeing a trend here?).

New build updated http://androidforums.com/threads/forums-for-android™.1129393/
also just published to the play store.

Issues fixed:
  • Bug fix After adding a community and backing out the main screen, you may need to exit and re-open the app for this to properly refresh and show in the forums tab.
  • Bug fix After adding reply, the thread does not refresh accordingly
  • Bug fix in opening /attachment/... links
  • Bug fix with handling URLs when clicking from within a thread
Version bump for automatic versioning. (I'm lazy)

Please always bump when you update the OP. I'll never remember to check it otherwise. :D

almathWith new update it keeps force closing, will uninstall and try again. Like the new colors.. [emoji16]
Lots and of new colors in the update. Please let me know whether or not the reinstall worked or not. I will also check the crash reports today. Thanks!

Ok liking the changes so far:

*Pull to refresh is way too sensitive
*Maybe the time of last post could light up to show there is a new post in the thread.
*If the thread has a pic in the description, it takes up half the thread when you open it..
*When I exit a thread my timeline doesn't save my place, I have to start from the top all over again.

Hello. I keep asking but am getting absolutely no replies for some reason.
Is it suppose to be possible to maneuver around AF from a mobile device now that there's no Tapatalk?
On my phone there's like only one page in The Lounge but 100's of pages on my PC.
And things like on my phone the edit option and other options and greyed out and do nothing.
Thank you

Signed, frustrated In Omaha.

Hello sleedeane. :)

I moved this to the suggestion box where the behind the scenes folks will see it.

Are you using the new app or a mobile browser? And so I am understanding correctly, you are seeing the first page of threads and no way to move to any other pages?

I'm using The AF app.
Yes I can only view one page of each of these four headings.
And one page of timeline.
And when I go to "chat with staff" it says im not allowed to view this page.

There were 3 vertical dots. One of them was an edit option that was greyed out and did nothing.
Don't even see those dots anymore.
And there is like a quote balloon with a number next to it.
I assume these are replies.
This too is greyed out so I can't see any replies.
Pretty much, nothing works.
Thank you for your quick response.

Darn it. Now it just let me edit.

I don't understand.

Hmm... ...the tab you are on I believe does continuous scrolling for new threads, so it should load new threads as you near the bottom of the list (and the lounge should be near endless).
I'm not seeing the three dots anymore either now that you mention it.
As far as private chat, there was a security issue last night. They may have shut it down.

Sorry to keep bouncing you around, but it l am going to move this to the app feedback thread now that I know a little more. :)

I merged in @sleedeane's conversation. Sorry I got sidetracked, I had to make breakfast.

There is a lot of info in the OP on how to navigate that may be helpful. Also, lists of known or fixed bugs.

No problem.
When I scroll down I see about 10 posts and then it just stops scrolling with no options to go to the next or previous page.
And I don't think there is anyway to get to any "app feedback" thread on my phone.
I'll go to my PC and look for it.
Thank you so much.

Edit (which it's letting me do for at the moment) :

Okay. I found it.
It looks like a lot of the problems I am experiencing are currently being addressed. Kind of in a planning stage.

Seems like AF on mobile is still evolving.

So I guess it'll just keep getting better and better.

Thanx again.

There is a problem with logging out in that it doesn't clear enough stuff. I logged out of my account on one of my second phones and logged in using my wife's account.

Bad:
No matter how many refreshes I did, my threads, and favorites were stuck. I couldn't get them to clear and show hers.

Worse:
It didn't clear my access credentials, so I was able to view privileged areas (Mod Central, VIP, Private Chat, etc.) using her account.

I had to clear data to get it fixed. Once I did that I lost access to those secure areas. There is just the known bug in private chat.

See this thread for screenshots including privilidged areas

I've tried the app yesterday. :) It needs more features like viewing messages and alerts etc.
