Wow, the new ADW Launcher is...fantastic. I know LauncherPro is getting all the talk these days but ADW is more functional...and with this update is even smoother at scrolling...very iPhone-like now.

NexBeast is about perfect. The only suggestion I have is to make the bars (ringer volume, browser load, etc.) NexTheme green, instead of the default yellow. The fact that that's the best I can come up with should tell you something! And mind you, my droid isn't even overclocked.

Nexbeast is running great for me as well. I'm really enjoying ADW and all it has to offer. I haven't had any problems with lag or anything of that nature. The only thing I've noticed is that no matter what kernel I use, my phone is running a tad hotter than usual. It's definitely not a deal breaker for me, but just something I noticed, since coming from BB1.0. I also noticed 'internal phone storage' seems lower than usual. I used to hang around 229mb, but now it's saying I have around 194 and I'm using the same amount of apps. What do I have to delete to get that back up? I used the scripts and already removed all applications and launchers I thought to be useless to me, but my internal storage didn't get bigger. Any ideas?

All in all, I love this rom very much. Undoubtedly my favorite so far, and I've tried them all. Keep up the great work Fab!

Any way to disable screen preview in ADW? That's probably my only bitch, I find it really annoying.
I believe there's a script on the first page of this thread that will change the launcher for you. :D

Edit: I completely misread your post. Sorry. lol

Yes, I believe unchecking the sense preview box should take those off, but I'm not 100% sure.

There's a link to the changelog in the first post (first link actually) :D

The themed LauncherPro is in post #642.

BTW, there's a new version of ADW launcher out. Those of you using ADW should upgrade, as it improves scrolling. Here's the file:

Launcher-rc1.apk

Rename to Launcher.apk, place on sdcard. In terminal emulator:

Code:
su
switchlnchr
Be sure to set the scrolling speed down to ~250 (that's what the dev says is the best setting)

Where do you go to set the scrolling speed?

I am getting a permission denied when I try this. It is changing the prompt when I go type su. Any suggestions?

Unfortunately it doesn't.

I just did it the long way:

download Root Explorer, and navigate to /system/app:

1. Mount R/W
2. delete Launcher.apk

Then adb install adwlauncher.apk or whatever you named it. You'll be doing that install from your computer, so make sure the launcher.apk is in your tools folder from the SDK.

Should be good to go, though I'd recommend backing up first.

Thanks for a great rom! I've been running it since yesterday morning and love it!

I am having a few problems tho I'm hoping someone can offer some advice on.

I've tried both the BeKit and P3 1Ghz kernals clocked at 800Mhz max with SetCPU. I'm also using profiles within SetCPU to downclock even lower when Idle or charging, But I am still having problems with both awful battery life and heat. Right now after having been idle for at least 30 minutes it is sitting at 89.6F according to SetCPU. I switched batteries out earlier today when the other one had reached 70%. I'm at 60% now on the second battery after making 1 phone call today that lasted perhaps 10 minutes and about 40 minutes of surfing the web!

By comparison way back when I had BB .7 loaded from the day it was posted until the night before the OTA 2.1 came out and then was stock 2.1 until yesterday. With both of those roms my idle temps were usually low 70's and I'd put the phone on the charger before going to bed at night usually somewhere around 70%.

I've tried everything including removing all widgets except Beautiful Widgets and SetCPU. Ive set a static WP instead of live even tho I used a live WP on 2.1OTA since day one. Wifi and Bluetooth are disabled and I've set the backlight to manual and clocked it down to 1 step from the lowest and have even done a complete wipe and reinstall earlier and still having the same issues.

Anyone have any ideas? I don't plan on switching as I'm loving this rom but I really don't want to have to switch batteries every day either for what most would consider light use hehe.

In ADW settings, under UI settings you can change the Home button binding and set it to move to default desktop so when you process the home button instead of the previews you'll go to the default Desktop or if you like you can change it to open your app drawer.

I have mine set to "move to default desktop/show previews" to make it function more like the helix launcher.

Fabo: I believe your ROM is bugged. Whenever I enter in diag mode, the computer doesn't pick up my phone whatsoever. I've heard that it's the 2.1 update itself, but I figured I'd let you know so you could iron it out if it is on your end.

A few Qs & issues so far with 1.0.1:

The ADW launcher was pretty slick and fast when I first loaded it, but after using if for half of a day, it seems to get pretty damn laggy. I can swipe my fingers across the screen 2-3 times and most of the time it wont register or react until my 2nd or 3rd swipe. Also, it skips a lot when I go from one side of my screens to the other if I go though the HTC type zoomed out UI or if I just try to swipe to it. Has anyone else experienced this?

Another prob I've had since I moved to 2.1 (I'm not sure if this is a 2.1 issue or what, but my wife and friend running stock/unrooted 2.1 don't experience this) is if I have an app open for more than a couple mins, then I hit the home button to get to my home screen, a lot of times it takes at least 10-15 secs for it to load up all my icons on my home screen. On a few occasions, it's taken more than 40 secs for it to load my icons/widgets up on the screen. I was about to do a battery pull it was so bad and unresponsive. FYI, I have "Home app in memory" checked in Spare Parts. If I disable this, it runs much worse. I saw this problem with the stock home/launcher in v1.0 ROM and with this new ADW launcher, although it doesn't seem to be quite as bad with the ADW launcher.

I have the donate version of Titanium backup and went from NexBeast 1.0 to 1.0.1, so I did a factory wipe (twice) in SPRecovery and installed the new ROM. About 15 (out of 190 or so) of my apps wouldn't install for some reason. It would tell me "install failed" if I did "app + data" and if I just did "app only" it would say "install successful", but it didn't actually install the app for some reason, anyone seen this? Also, how do I restore my BT paired profiles with Titanium? I couldn't find the backup for it in the menu (I did a full backup of all apps + system data before I switched ROMs).

All issues above I had running with the included kernel for the NexBeast v1.0.1 ROM (e.g. stock speeds), but right now I'm running the Bekit 1.1 GHz low voltage kernel.

So all in all, I'm pretty happy with the ROM. I'm not seeing any major FCs or lockups. Just some moderate performance issues even though I have plenty of RAM available in the ATK.

Thanks for all the help and the EXCELLENT WORK/ROMS, Fab!

Edit: Ooohh, see your post above me with the updated ADW launcher, I'll definitely try that out now and test it out to see if that's a fix for me.

OK, that new update seemed to have fixed the home screen sluggishness for now, hopefully it stays that way from now on. But can anyone answer how to restore BT/WiFi profiles with Titanium? Also, you have any idea why some of my apps didn't restore properly?

Thanks again, Fab :).

What do you mean by 'diag mode'? In recovery? USB debugging?

I don't really now about Titanium, I've stopped using it altogether. Something wonky always seems to happen if I try restoring with it.

You could try 'fix permissions' from within ROM manager.

Maybe the file got corrupt when you downloaded it? It should be 67.99MB.

Also, while I'm sure it works for SPRecovery, I've only used Clockwork to install.

Hey Fab I installed the updated ADW launcher and its def faster and a lot smoother. But it doesnt have the green outlines anymore its back to orange. Is it possible you could update the new ADW launcher with the green outlines again please?

Well i've downloaded the file 4 or 5 times. I reformatted my sd card and formatted my phone using rsd lite, and then rooted using dm updater. i think you might be right about sprecovery. i've never used clockwork before though

Yeah, I'll take a look into it, but he changed the way the graphics work a little bit, so the theming is a little more difficult, and I can't reuse the pictures I made from the last version.

I'm having the exact same problem with temps being too high, at idle it's running at 89.6F according to Set CPU just like yours. I've tried Bekits 1.1Ghz kernel and I just flashed P3's 1.2Ghz kernel temps still are a bit high. Love the ROM though and don't really want to change it.
