Help Pop ups (Ads)

I'm getting pop up ads when I unlock my screen. I checked for any apps I installed recently and deleted them but still get them every now and then. Does anybody else have this stupid problem?
I haven't heard of that problem before. It might help if you post a screen grab.

Ads? Like the kind you see on in -app adverts on free apps?

Sounds like something you installed is causing this to happen.

Ive seen other people mention this and its due to some app that is injecting ads into your device.

Did you install anything recently just around the time this happened.

All of a sudden Google Play app started popping up with random apps to download. What could be causing this annoying popup & how does one stop it?

Thanks!

Google play is the music app..

Sounds like there is some rogue app thats hijacked your phone.

What web browsers do you use?

Did you install anythig recently?

I see threads like this all the time and usually its some app thats hijacked the phone...

In the play store app, go to settings>notifications and then uncheck the box for 'deals and promotions'.

It was already unchecked 🤤, but thanks.

I use Chrome.

Every so often when I unlock my phone, there will be a random ad covering my screen. I haven't downloaded any recent applications or anything. What can be causing this problem?

recently reset my girlfriends phone and i noticed this as well. next time leave the ad open but find a task manager and find out what app is running this.

I did have this problem until I uninstalled a phone app (I think it was White Pages). Even if you don't have that particular app, it may be a recently installed app that is doing it. Now I get no more ads on screen unlock. The White Pages completely took over my screen lock with it's own stuff. No More!

I got something like that after I downloaded a pandora one apk. I installed a free anti virus and ended that

Try to uninstall (and reboot in between each uninstall) each of your latest apps (one at a time) around the time that you first noticed this issue. You can also look in the apps store or Amazon to see if they came with ads.

Yep, rogue crap app. Go to your app list in settings and look for any app that has no icon.

Also, in the future, when installing apk files... do not install it, if it looks like this:

I've been getting them when I unlock my phone, text, games that didn't have ads to start with, opening Snapchat messages. I've removed a bunch of apps I though was the reason plus ones that I'm sure weren't the reason

These are all known apps that can put adware on your phone and put unnecessary ads.

- Super-Bright LED Flashlight/Torch

- ES App Locker or ES File Explorer

- GO apps (e.g. GO Keyboard, GO Weather), GO Keyboard theme apps like Glass Water Keyboard. Next Browser

- KittyPlay

- Peel Remote app

-KingoRoot

- Photo Editor Pro

- TouchPal apps

- VideoShow video editor

- Xender

- Z Camera (and Zero Team apps)

Also check these:
Other Flashlight apps, battery booster apps, ES file explorer, or Flash Keyboard?

I didnt have any of those apps.

But I would also like to add to that list of apps that cause ads on your phone to pop up randomly. I had this one from the play store an even though I removed the app I was still getting ads and it wasn't until I removed the photos last night that I had saved on my phone that the ads stopped.

Good rule of thumb: Read the reviews in the Google Play Store. That one had some complaints of popup ads.

I didnt have any of those apps....

its not an exhaustive list. there are thousands of apps on the site that would add this type of nonsense to devices. agree with above read the reviews before you install. google play store is less strict than apple (if you are an apple convert)
