HTC DROID Eris OS 2.1v3 download

I installed this rom on my eris but I do not have the speech to text option on my keyboard, anyoone have any ideas why? Am I missing something?
 
I know this is going to improve the phone and all, but the intensity displayed itt is weird. Unless 2.1 comes with a free money or ****** app, it seems like everyone could take it down a notch. It will still be the same phone, somewhat improved.
 
2 questions....1 i already hve the leaked verison...so for this new one do i just remve the old one n add the new one....and 2 r we suppose to get the new 2.1 update frm verizon if we have the leaked verizon

1. Are you referring to removing the old file from your SD card and then putting v3 on your SD card? If so then yes. Also, after it is installed there is no need to keep the file on your SD card.

2. There is mixed answers about if the leakers will get the OTA or not. Some say no while others say their will be a small patch in the upcoming days/weeks that will allow the leaks to update to OTA.

@VZWSupport Are you aware of the difference in boot loader versions between official 2.1 and leaked 2.1? How will leaks get the ota?
@papajon2 The 2.1 updates have been sent to some leaked versions and were downloaded successfully. *NK
@VZWSupport when(aprox.) will the people running leaked 2.1 see the official update?

First, I have never posted on a forum with a question. Have always been able to get answers by just reading.

I went from rooted 2.1 to 2.1 v3, without being fully aware of how Android OS works. Now I have done lots of research and am realizing I have lost root by doing this. Is there any way to get root back??!!!

I would like to overclock this puppy and try a few of the custom ROM's out, is this impossible?

Please help me with some feedback on this.

2.1v3 removes root, only way back now is a phone on 1.5 or ota 2.1. Until someone figures out how to root 2.1v3 leak, however, Verizon claims "everyone" will get 2.1ota

There is hope

For me, I complained enough to Verizon about my 2 HTC Eris', and they are sending me moto Droid replacements :)
 
yea i am putting the pieces of the puzzle together now. when the OTA comes it will just replace whatever you have no matter what? i suppose the rooted versions disabled OTA???

Is there any possible way digress from a leaked version to a version with root?? I think the answer to that is no... seeing as how you would need root to do that. Damnit, I mad at myself for leaping and then looking.

When the OTA comes, it will then be possible to install rooted version??

OTA is out, looks like there will be a different push for leakers ota, as there has been zero evidence of any leaker on any version getting the ota. Typically, the ota does replace the current OS on your phone - if you accept the update that is. (regardless of all this, "IF 2.2" is pushed to the Eris, 2.1 leak v1 v2 v3 wont matter, you can install that - but I wouldnt hold your breathe.)

I have seen some roots that disable OTA.

you cannot revert to a lower version of a leak, nor can you even consider root at this time.

when/if leakers really receive a OTA< yes you will be able to root.

no reason to apologize for the questions, its the whole point of the forums :)
 
I was wondering the same thing myself!! I just did it impulsively. Was thinking this was a 2.1 v3 root leak or some nonsense. I have only been messing with the Eris for about 3 or 4 days. I don't know man but I am pissed off at myself.

I just didn't fully understand what I was doing, until I did it, and then tried to do things that require root. Then I did the research and found out I am screwed.

Where is the best place to keep up with what the latest and greatest releases are?? Meaning, where should I keep an I eye to find out if 2.2 gets rooted in the future, or etc etc?

There is so much you can do with root and now I just want to throw this slow clunker out the window. With root and some tweaks I can imagine it's a pretty neat little phone. Right now, it is so damn laggy. Speaking of which, then I will stop bugging you, but since you are the only biter, any suggestions for speed improvement?
 
Have been reading the Verizon boards and can't believe all the problems people are having with the upgrade, even though it's supposedly the same as I have with the leak (2.1v3). However, it has some undesirable features and problems that I don't have with the leak. So, if Verizon does try to somehow force the OTA, can it be avoided?

Also, does anyone have info on a 2.2 leak?:)

I've tried downloading v3 from mirror 2 and 3 because 1 is asking for a password and both mirror downloads are telling me when you try to open them is that they are invalid
 
i wonder since there's a 2.2 OS that everyone is talking about...i wonder if that will be pushed to the leaked eris phones for those of us that have a leaked verison of the eris
 
i doubt anyone will be getting 2.2

and fwiw, with the ota out now, and knowing leaking your phone will stop you from getting updates....why use the leak?

caddy advice: DO NOT do the leak.
 
Lol caddy, I truly agree with you, but that's kinda like the crack dealer telling people not to buy his crack. I know you didn't make anyone use the leak so I'm not getting on your case. You've helped me and a lot of others, so thanks. I just found humor in your post. no ill will though just funny.
