Light switch. How quaint
If it's any comfort Chief, Google does the opposite. I can't tell you how many times I say "Hey Google, turn on the office lights" and she replies "I'm sorry, I can't do that at the moment" or "device cannot be reached" and then a second later the light comes on.
Sometimes my ADT-controlled lights do the same thing, @The_Chief. Sort of. What I mean is, they're set-through my ADT apps to turn on/off at certain times. Sometimes when I can plainly see that they're on or off, the app will tell me the opposite. That's always turned out to be a connection glitch, i.e., just a momentary loss of being connected to its router can cause this--if it happened RIGHT AT the moment scheduled. I don't know if that helps your troubleshooting at all, but I thought I'd throw it out there!
Thanks - I've pulled the plug on the Echo to restart the thing, no joy. It's not the routine, either: if one Echo just won't do it after 2 or 3 commands, the other Echo has no problem doing it. And they're both stubborn about it, but with different routines!
As a beta tester and early adopter, I often receive invitations to test new technologies. I got this today and almost fell out of my chair.
A SMART microwave??? Connected to my home network and Alexa (aka "Bimbo in a Can")???
I have cold food in my hand, which I just pulled out of my fridge. I'm standing right there, in front of the microwave, intending to put it IN the microwave to heat it up. The controls are RIGHT THERE where my hand already is! So what benefit is it to put my food in and then fight Bimbo in a Can to heat it up over my network?
Now Amazon would know how much popcorn we're nuking; how many frozen pot pies and burritos we eat; and how often we make stew. As if Amazon doesn't know enough about us as it is!

I do however see a very niche use case for this...
Lets say you bought some take out food and don't finish it, but know you'll eat it later. You can leave it in the microwave and later when you're perhaps at your desk working, you can tell alexa to heat it up and go grab it when you hear the microwave beep.
Yeah, fairly useless.
There is only so long food can be left out at room temperature before bacteria get fruitful & multiply all in it. That would make for a very bad (and messy) next day.

The only helpful use for this would be if it automatically sets the clock on it.
