I've added 5 hours to my daily use with the following, simple method:
1. Upon completely charging your phone (while on), you'll see the orange light turn green
2. Power offer you phone and remove the charging cord
3. Remove the battery for 30 seconds
4. Replace the battery and place the power cord in the phone (Do not turn the phone on)
You'll see that the light is no longer green, in fact, you'll find that your phone charges for another 30-40 minutes. I'm not sure where this extra 'capacity' comes from, but filling it does wonders for your day to day. Also, grab a program like Linda and kill applications when you're done with them. I get a full day of use now, if not more.

huh, it's working. Went from green to orange again. I'll see if it does give me more power
Edit: Turned green in under 20 minutes. Maybe it depends on power source? You might be using your wall outlet for power while I used my computer connection. Still, good catch
You are exactly right, I do my best to rely on AC power, although we all know most days this is impossible. The numerous stock apps that use your GPS should be turned off if you don't use them as well. Linda Manager is an excellent application. Also, the application 'Setting Profiles' a paid app, really helps control battery use throughout the day.

They are incorrect. They are in the VZW system, but they are not available yet. HTC, the maker of the battery, will not have them out until next month at the earliest.
Almost 5 hours of uptime. If you were barely using it, something isn't letting your phone sleep much.
ok guys... I need some advice on four things.... PLEASE. I need more battery life!
1. Havent done the whole "drain battery, charge while off, replug in" thing...is it really worth it?
2. Next, I have removed the calender widget? Is that confirmed to help?
3. Does de-selecting the google chat help to add battery life?

- OEM TP2 1500 battery... can any confirm extra battery life? Does it not close all the way? (any pictures?) Worth it for 17 bucks?
- Seido 1750... or do these batteries end up giving less mAh then stock?
- Or just wait for the OEM 2150 to be released (how much bulk will it add??)

Hi everyone, here are my stats using a HTC TouchPro2 1500mAh OEM battery for the TP2 but in the Incredible of course:
Best $15 spent so far.
I removed the battery from the desktop charger and installed it into my phone just after 7am yesterday morning (June 2nd 2010):
UpTime: 28:03:07
AwakeTime: 6:49:37
Battery %:3 %
Wifi: On (Only on for 10 hours or os)
GPS: On
Bluetooth: Off
Unplugged time: 1 day 4 hrs 2 mins 51 secs
My usage pattern: light to moderate usage for me. Basically a fairly even mix of reading emails (30), calls (25 mins), texts (20), android market downloads (2 apps), uz media player background videos (2 hours), listened to a couple audio podkasts, used touiteur for about 30 minutes, listened to music for about an hour, and composed a couple of emails throughout the day.
Wow. This completely destroyed my stock battery. I am VERY impressed.

Who wants to change out a battery every day. Besides, your back cover and battery will eventually become "loose". My Storm did this after having to reboot every day.
Something's gotta give on this batter situation. I just pick up my phone and the battery drains.

The specs say its the same as the phone that shipped with the phone. Just curious as to why its different.
I'm keeping it simple. I don't have time to make all these tweaks to save a little battery life. And I'm sure as heck not taking my battery out every day. That's why I got rid of my Storm. I'm going to ride this phone like a cheap hooker on Sat. night. The Droid has all of these buttons and whistles and I'm going to use the hell out of them.
I'm getting the 3500 battery as soon as it comes out. Don't care if it adds 3-4 mm to the phone's thickness or not. Still thinner than my Storm 1.

Tried the method in post #178 and after replacing the battery and plugging back in, its been charging for two hours and the light is still orange. So that tells me the battery was only partially charged but showing fully charged, an obvious flaw in the phone. This sucks. Had the thing for four days and already f*****g up.
what is the task killer situation, never could get the whole story on that

I did a test yesterday. I kept my Mobile Network (3G) OFF only until I needed it. I used my phone just like any other day. My DInc was turned on @ 10am and when I turned it off at 2am I still had over 60% battery left! This was the most battery I've ever had left at the end of any day. Only thing I did different was keep the 3G off when I wasn't using it. I recommend trying this, it really works.

taking my phone to Verizon store to get a new battery. My phone lasts 3 hrs on a full charge with minimal usage. Hopefully this will fix my issue. If not, im stopping by the AT&T store.

Just a friendly **warning** for anyone wanting to use their blackberry charger on their droid. I was using mine and my battery would not hold a charge and lasted about 3 hrs. I took it back to Verizon to get a new one. The guy at the Verizon store said it was OK to use my Blackberry chargers. So I let the new battery wear down completely like he said and was out and about and used my blackberry charger for about 30 mins. I noticed the charger light was on, unplugged it and low and behold it would not even turn on. Down for the count. K.O..

It shouldn't do anything. With Li-Ion batteries, there is no "conditioning" or memory effect. The first charge and the 50th should be the same.
That being said, the meter that tells you how much juice is left is basically a guess, so making sure it's all the way charged the first time and then running it all the way down until it auto shuts down will make sure your meter is calibrated as accurately as possible. You should avoid doing this on any regular basis though, it will shorten the already short life of the battery itself. Li-Ion's do start deteriorating the moment they come off the assembly line and have an expected life span in the 2-3 year range.
A bunch of people will say these statements are not true and insist old Ni-MH battery rules still apply. I won't argue with them, you can decide for yourself.

I use an OEM blackberry micro usb cable everyday at work and it works fine.

i'm offering this as helpful advice. if you look in this forum, there are others having issues with their phone and the BB wall charger (can't speak for BB car charger, if there is one). Also, a friend of mines' gf used her BB charger and immediately began having various issues. I guess if must just be mass hysteria.

As do I, I use my old Bold 9700 charger and I've had no problems whatsoever.
I charge all night with the phone on.
In the AM, while the charger is still connected, I turn the phone off.
The light will change from green to orange.
When it's green again (about 30 min +/-) I unplug the charger and turn on the phone.
I have no scientific data but it doesn't drop 7-10% in the first few minutes anymore and lasts hours longer. I won't go thru the above steps but this is nice and easy and seems to add capacity.

It's a shame that a few people, who have no clue what they're talking about, come here spewing these false claims.
USB is a STANDARD. It means that all devices using it are compatable with this STANDARD. A USB power supply runs at a mean 5 volts, give or take about a 1/4 of a volt. Amperage will vary (high power vs low power) that will affect how fast your device will charge.
I will say that some of the cheapo devices you can buy on Ebay or Amazon are not built to the standards that Verizon or HTC/BlackBerry/etc. power supplies are built to and could potentially cause a problem.
To suggest that a BlackBerry charger would damage an HTC device is as ludicrous as saying that using Energizer AA batteries won't damage your flashlight and Duracell AA batteries will. To suggest otherwise is only showing your ignorance of the subject matter.
