Enough "Pretty Girls" and Porn!

I enjoy a pretty girl on the street, but this is getting ridiculous in the Market. I realize that this is an open market, but enough already. Google or whom ever needs to establish a site/location for this stuff, so that our kids don't have these choices available.

while i do agree, how about don't give the phone to a kid ?

I mean if they can't see pretty women on the droid, they'll probably never think of looking on the internet ..

1. I don't care if its in the market
2. I don't want google determining what my kids should see
3. I do wish it had its own category because there is so much of it that its 'clogging' search results in the market. Same with soundboards. There must be a million of them.

Try searching for just about anything and some boob app or a soundboard will show up in the search.

funny that in 2010, with one of the most advanced phones capable of seeing anything on the web, one would worry about porn. woopie. hardly worth blowing a gasket over. it's out there, it exists, always has.

and for those that say it is prevalent in the Market.. I have never, not 1 time, ever had a porn or girl wallpaper related app come up in my search results UNLESS I searched for it. so, not sure how your "stumbling" across it :) uhh hmmm

Well, that's interesting that you guys haven't seen it, because I see it all the time as well, and I have a big problem with it. Because of that, I am considering dumping Android and moving to iphone when my contract is up. I'm sick of it, and kids-and adults-don't need the temptation.

There is a body of research indicating that material of that nature is addictive and seriously affects the development of neural connections, and as such, that garbage has no business being on a public site. If they want to add a specific section, similar to the 'games' section, with a disclaimer and ability for a parent to lock it out, fine, but it's absurd to have it on your phone.

Just scroll down through the list and you'll see a gazillion 'pretty girl' 'sexy girl' whatever apps.

TimK, I'm with you 100%.

Come on man, didn't you know that Android was made for porn? :D

LOL

in all seriousness, I don't care about the content, but do wish that google would categorize the market a bit better, or at least add an advanced search feature that allowed you to filter or narrow your searches. This uselss girly pics and the millions of soundboards, do really clog up search results.

Its an open market for a reason. If you want a censored market give your money to Apple. I for one prefer Android.

I can't believe no one's pointed out google search. It has the option for filtering out porn. They could just add the safe search option as a setting in the market. Simple, just choose moderate or strict and be done with it.

Which they will eventually, the google safe search and advanced search stuff, they are just too damn lazy about it. Just like with Chrome extensions page.

In market? How? (Yes, I'm a noob. ) Or are you saying google has the ability and just needs to add it?

I just get tired of having to scroll through the eleven million apps and having 6 mill of them being for 'pretty asian girls'. For crying out loud. If I wanted to see boobs, I'd just go look in the mirror.:D

If there is a way to restrict stuff like that and I just haven't run across it yet, then I'll shut up and admit to being wrong or misinformed or whatever the right word would be.

I have to agree that its hard to find good new apps because the list is always clogged with babe/soundboard/puzzle apps. A content filter would be great. It can still be an open market, just give me open choices too.

I don't think anyone said anything about the nature of the market. We are talking about adding functionality to it, not restricting it's content.

I'm glad I got this started, because there are alot of opinions out there. For those not seeing, I'm LOL! As some have stated, everyday in the "All Apps" "Just IN" You have to go through so much garbage.

At least someone cleaned up the Disney Search. When I first got my phone, there were more porn on Disney, then disney stuff.

I don't have a problem with it being available, I just don't think we need to go through 50% of porn to see the apps that I might want.

I hope someone from google reads all of these comments.

I agree. I feel the same way about soundboards. I think the Market needs a better way to search. Specifically, a way to exclude all "girly" apps and soundboards.

Not on android, I'm talking about their search engine. They have the technology, they just need to do it for android.

+1 :D Not only is it a nuisance to scroll through them all, but I'd like to show off my shiny new phone to others (my 88-yr old dad, for example) without worrying about them getting the wrong impression (of Android, the phone, the Market, or me, take your pick. ;))

There are people that seriously believe this. No, sir, they don't spout this in irony. Nor in sarcasm. Nor as a caricature. This, ladies and gentlemen, is a specimen of the Homo battysapiens.

Please observe from a careful distance. It may bite and try to assault you with a Bible.

I would like to see a source for the neural connections comment. Some people have addictive personalities. If it's not cigarettes then it's alcohol, or drugs, or girly pics, or baseball, or chruch group, or something. It has nothing to do with what they're addicted to, just that they will be addicted to something.

I'd never noticed any preponderance of girly pic apps so I tried the Just In section and there was a notable selection of them. But the first one was Monica Belucci pics, so who could be mad at that?

I would have no objection to a rating/filtering system with parental controls. All modern TVs have a V chip for so no big deal. As long as it stays available for people to find if they want to. Have your cake and eat it too.

If you look at the newest app section, you'll see lots of girly apps there all the time.

ahh.. I guess I do not spend my time just looking at what new is out so I can find junk to download, I go search and get what I want. so never see this stuff (unless I seek it out - and this thread helped me find a new app I liked  )

bwaaa ha haa ha

yeah, and I bet you the people that did this questionable "research" are the ones that have the most hidden, sick and twisted porn addictions. that is always how it is.. the ones doing the finger pointing always have the darkest secrets.

and this stuff has EVERY right, just like all the things you DO like, to be available and on the web and the market and your phone. not everyone is like you so if you censor that, I bet there is something you like - like maybe knitting or ping pong - that I hate and would want censored. get it?

to much censorship is a bad, bad, thing. what, you think your kids don't see it or know about it elsewhere. so much worse to be worrying about in the world then nekked girls and sex. man, Americans are SO uptight.

Wasn't it the Republican party that wanted this study conducted? In fact, the senator who was leading the charge (saying the study would help maintain the strength of marriage and family) was later found in a hotel, tied down to the bed with a ball gag in his mouth, while being sodomized by a prostitute.
