Best Buy in Texas on June 4th

Lubbock at 9:30 which is supposed to be the first appointment.
We have 4G here after being the last city in the USA in getting 3G in November 2009. BB told me they had 40 preorders about a week ago.
 
...found this add on craigslist, posted yesterday.

We are done taking Pre-orders for this phone, and it comes out Friday the 4th. For all the extra Evo's we get I am making a list of people that definitely want one. If we get an extra five I will call the first five people that reserve one. If we get an extra ten then I will reserve them for the first ten. We get the phones a day early so I will be in contact about the amount we get once they show up. Let me know if you want a call.

The plan requires you to be on a Everything Data Plan and requires an additional 9.99 fee for 4G phones, and if you want to get the Phone as a Modem feature, that can connect up to 8 devices wirelessly to your phone, it is another 29.99 but that's optional.

Is anyone planning on hitting the corporate store here in San Antonio on Friday morning (Bandera Rd). I called them and they will be opening @ 0800 but wouldn't elaborate on how many they will be getting. They said they won't know until Friday (sounds fishy to me). I really don't have the desire to get there more than an hour early, so should I not even waste my time?
 
From what the bandera store told me unless you have a preorder you are not going to get a phone. You have to have preordered before hand. Atleast thats what they told me a couple of days ago
 
Pre ordered first day in Round Rock TX store, and I have not received a call for an appointment yet. I had to be the < 10th person there that day. Should I be worried?
 
man it blows that some of you don't have appointments yet. I would check with your respective stores. Thankfully, the BB at the Rim set up the appointments on the spot. 12:30!!!!!!!

I preordered day 1 at the Pflugerville BB. Just called to see whats going on because I havent received a call for appt yet. The girl told me she is making calls right now and if I haven't gottten a call by 5 today to call back. FWIW that location had 24 preorders. I guess they are taking their time in our area unlike SA where everyone seems to already know their appt time :(

Now I am confused. I didn't think that the SPRINT store was doing preorders...I thought that was just RS and BB. Am I missing something here?
 
....debating wether to call the local BB and find out if they know if they rcvd extra's or not and how their planning on handling them if so.
 
OK...WTF?!? I am getting really pissed. Are some of the corporate Sprint stores doing pre-orders and others are not? That is a pretty crappy way to run a business.

Is the Bandera (San Antonio) store doing this? I have tried calling, but have been on hold forever!
 
Thats funny they told you they only had 24 preorders. I was in there today and the guy told me they filled their initial preorder allotment of 30 and were doing preorders for the second shipment. I didn't get a chance to preorder until today so I'm like 21 and 22 on the second shipment. I have 5 lines on my account and have some people wanting to get off Sprint, get on sprint, etc so I had to sort that out before getting around to the phones.

I pre-ordered from the Round Rock store (#5 on the list) as well and got a call yesterday at about 1:00 to remind me of my appointment. Would probably be smart to call and find out for sure.
 
So I finally got a hold of someone at the Sprint Store and they said that they are NOT (Bandera Rd) taking preorders and that it's first-come, first-serve. I am NOT a fan of waiting in a crazy line, but I am going out of town for a while and am afraid I don't have a choice. How early should one get there...any intel on previous "phone madnesses" like this?
 
the rep at bestbuy at the rim said they were the 3rd largest number of pre orders in the country.
 
So another Sprint store here in town (San Antonio) said they are opening at 0900 (not 0800...strange) and have "about 40". Now not sure what store to go to!!!

When I went to do the pre-buy at BB (about a week ago), they also said that they expect to sell more of the EVO that the TOTAL NUMBER of mobile devices that were sold on black Friday. That's a LOT of phones. :eek:
 
Just talked to the Grapevine store. They said they will be calling to setup appointments tomorrow. He mentioned they were waiting to get the accessories before they setup the appoinments.
 
I am part of the second shipment at the North Star Best Buy. I called today and said they would call and set up appointments for the second shipment after they took care of the first.

I am actually on pre order with BB and was told they would call people the day before to set up an appointment. And it was true, BB did more pre orders than they had devices which is why they are getting their next shipment on the 9th.

Yeah don't know if that was accurate or not bc she said it in an offhand way and then said "thats all I can tell you" like the Soup Nazi or something. Anyway I got a call and I have appt for 8am. This is going to be a good weekend :) She asked if I would be buying any accessories and mentioned that they have some "platinum" BB brand case and screen protectors that they can show during the appt. I have some RZ certs to use so may get a case if not too outrageous on price, but knowing BB it will be.. Also I got an email request to take a survey on my BB experience. Did anyone else get that? I thought it was odd since the "experience" hasnt been completed yet..
 
Hey guys won't do you any good now but I pre-ordered May 31st from Sams and got a 9 am apt time on Friday. I talked to the guy and he was saying they have an contract where they get the exact amount of pre orders.
So in the future pre order from Sams you don't even have to have the membership!

Sprint corp stores are not doing pre orders. Strict first come first serve. Make sure it's corporate and if you really want the phone camp out. Be prepared to pay 299.99 plus tax out the door with MIR of 100.00
