VZW - Cost?

So what will be the total out-of-pocket cost for me tomorrow if I get a Droid? I have an appointment at 6am and I'd love to get one, but the more I hear the less I am willing to shell out the cost for this phone. I plan on adding a new line to my plan and the data plan so I can just expire my contract on my main line in May that is

$30 +$10

Apparently there is an activation fee? (which I have no recollection of ever paying for my other VZW phones)

And the DROID is $300 with a $100 rebate. So if this is the case, does that mean I have to shell out $300 for the phone, an activation fee, and my first month of new service?

You should just be paying for the phone itself, I was a Verizon customer for almost 10 years, I've only ever been charged an activation fee once, but that, as well as your first months bill on the new line will be added to your bill. So your first months bill will have on the Activation fee, the $10 for a second line, $30 Data plan and whatever your regular phone plan is. Out of pocket you'll just be paying the $299 +tax for the phone.

Hope that helps

yes, what the guy above me said it correct. An activation fee is only when you sign up and your first bill is substantially higher then any other bill you should receive; unless you go over your plan on some things.

If your in california.. it should be 324.75. But when I got my Imagio (before i returned it) they charged me 376.54

I just looked at my receipt. The tax on a phone is MUCH higher than california's .0825 cents per dollar tax for sales. It says "Tax on phones: $56.55" It should be about 65% less than that. hmmm. weird. Plus I had a early upgrade fee of $20.00 because it has been only a year since I got my dare.

Common misconception. You pay tax on the FULL RETAIL price. Not the subsidized price. If memory serves right, that will be (insert tax % here) of $550.

Not in PA. I walked out of Wal-Mart only paying $203 and change (with a 2-year contract it was $188.88, 7% tax in PA).

Didn't we go to war for that? "Taxation without representation."
haha indeed. Also, the income tax was designed to help pay for the civil war, which as far as I know has been long paid for lol so why do we still have it exactly? Thats right, a greedy government.

As a full disclaimer...

Not a word of that is true...or relevant.

So we know the cost of the device but what's the monthly cost?

voice plans start at $39.99/month

data is $29.99/month

texts can be added in 250 message per $5/month increments

Or you can get the Connect packages that start at $99.99/month for unlimited internet and texts...still very few minutes

so I am kind of confused about the price of the phone. If I were to go to VZW and buy one without contract it would be 299? or 550? Thanks..

I was up around $325 I believe. I can't remember 100% because I got the car mount and a plastic case for it, which upon arriving home realized that the phone won't fit in the car mount when it has the shell on the back of it. :(

apparently we lost.

I guess we lost the war for basic knowledge of what the word "representation" means.

Goodness gracious I hope you don't mean the House, the Senate, the President, our Governors, our Councilmen, etc, etc... Because I know none of them represent me when it comes to taxes.

The rep at my verizon store said $569, and that sounds about right since i paid tax of 9.75% and it was around $55
The promo code subtracts $90 from the price which makes it $509.99. Add tax and it comes to about $569.99... so essentially you get the phone tax-free--and yes economy shipping is free, I believe. :D

Good God 9.75% sales tax are you serious? That is criminal! I sure don't miss living in California. Its much better these days as a tourist.
