Desire Firmware OTA Update

I have an unbranded Desire with an Orange SIM. I haven't had any notification of an upgrade. Is it issued by Orange or HTC, and is it because I'm on Orange that I haven't got it yet??

Google Earth is now found in the market, folders are transparent, a few changes to the youtube app.

Yeah, nothing really interesting.

Im also on Orange (branded handset)

Software V1.15.61.10

Have just checked and there's no update available at present. Don't think i'll bother for a day or three anyway when it does come!
 
It would be interesting if those who post how their update went would say whether their phone is unbranded or branded - and if the latter, which brand. That way, we'd be able to see who has the wifi - or any other - problem.
 
I have contacted HTC want to know more about this WiFi issue and why it affects some and not others before I update this firmware,not only that if I do experience some problems afterwards how do you get back to the previous firmware?
 
Unbranded phone from CPW. Vodafone Sim. No update message, manual check needed. Wi-Fi fine ( switched mine off after downloading update then installed just to be sure ). HQ Youtube lovely. Google Earth very nice. Only 30Mb free on phone storage. Givf Froyo.
 
I have an unbranded T-Mobile desire. Had to prompt the phone to get the update. Installed smoothly but can't test WiFi until I get home. Anyone know what the update was supposed to bring?

Hi all, am a noobie on here and this is my first post so here goes.

I bought my Desire from a third party, second hand with the previous owner having only had it for one week apparently, and I was wondering if anyone would be able to tell me whether it is branded, etc from the version number as I haven't done anything with it yet and have not received the OTA notification. Am using it on O2 simplicity SIM.

Ok guys I have a gsm unbranded phone from dialaphone (phones4u) on orange and I just checked and it says there is an update available for my phone.
 
Just done the update without any apparent problems. Wifi working OK, few icons changed phone was sim free from 3

PS: Just checked camera and is fine.

When you turn on the phone, after the loading circle and 'HTC' screen what appears?

If 'Quietly Brilliant' appears then you more than likely have an unbranded desire.

T-mobile replaces this with its own t-mobile logo.

The Orange desires have orange market and orange maps instead of the default,

I'm not sure how the other carriers brand theirs..

The 405 part means it's a European ROM (and unlocked)

110 is T-Mobile, 60 is Orange, 61 is Vodafone I believe

Would I get the notification on an unlocked phone or do I need to search for it manually?

I'm in exactly the same spot as you mate. Mine is an unbranded Desire from CPW and using it with O2 simplicity sim. I did'nt get a automatic update so i manually checked and it was there. Updated it and everything works just fine.
I suggest you manually update as well :) Just to let you know the update does take its own sweet time...dont worry about it.
