Official EVO Rumors and Speculation thread

Not open for further replies.
Tomorrow is the big day. All you people who have pre-ordered the EVO are going to have your dreams come true. Tonight, hardly any of you will sleep, waiting in anticipation of the big day. Tomorrow, all of you will be euphoric and will start exploring your EVOs the moment you lay your hands on your own device.

But what will your state be on Saturday? Would you have returned to planet Earth? Would the excitement remain? Many times the wait is more pleasurable than getting the item. Will that be the case for the EVO? I wonder... Or will we depart from this Forum thread, just to reconvene on some other?

I am hoping that the Sprint network does not crash with so many people having fun.

Moderators, is there a Forum thread where people can comment on whether their EVOs met their expectations?

So is today going by awfully slow to everyone or is it just me? I'm so anxious to get this phone I can't concentrate at work. Then once I get it, I still won't be able to concentrate b/c I'll be busy playing with it :)

You're definitely not alone, I have a decent amount of work that I should be hammering away at.

I feel like such a nerd, it's like the day before Christmas when I was six years old.

Can't wait to tinker with my first Android phone.

Well, everyone seems to be trying to fill up my meeting schedule Friday morning. My last meeting should be over by noon. Then I am heading to a cafe and get to work on loading my phone up with all kinds of multimedia content. I will be on this site all day as well, learning the tricks of the trade. My app brain is already set up with programs, and double twist is one of them. I have my mp4 movies which I figure should play, so I will be loading four quality movies on to show off.

I went to look at the hd2. The guy let me turn it on and play with it. Coming from a diamond, this is a really big phone. At Best Buy the dummy evo really made me think of it almost as a mini tablet. It is too big for me to think of it as a phone first. I think of it as a small multi-media computer that I can use as a telephone. When I held it up to my head like I was making a phone call, it felt comfortable, and it is thin enough to fit into my pockets well, so I don't think I will dislike it, but there will be an adjustment to its size.

I really hope android developers look at this phone similar to developers for the ipad. While the ipad runs the same apps as the iphone, they really need to develop apps for the ipad that maximize screen size and processing power. This is should be similar for the evo. I imagine games, movies and pics apps all to be able to really shine on this device.

Hmm.. Well did you guys just get the Sprint Email? Says that Qik's video chat with be 4.99$ a month. Something doesn't quite add up here..

So guys, it's the day before we get our Evo's! I was just wondering, do we have a thread to get us set up? Like making a Gmail account, getting our contacts ready to be synced and everything else a first timer for android needs to do for a smoother transition.

I'm a guy. I like to just jump in to things head first without reading the instructions and ask questions later if I'm really really super stuck. :D

I don't know if a new thread has been set up, but you may want to review the links below.

One important thing to do is to set up your Gmail account and sync contacts from your current phone BEFORE you get your EVO. Google Sync is really easy to use and helps manage your contacts too. Once your old phone is deactivated you won't be able to Google Sync them over.

I just talked to my local Sprint Authorized Dealer here in Oroville, CA. He said he will not get any EVOs tomorrow because they have a major bug in the software. He said (Bryan Awar - Store Manager, Total Wireless Sales Inc.) the phone will randomly clear the memory cards of all data including contacts. He said both HTC and Sprint are working on the issue. Has anyone else heard this??

Got sick of waiting for BB to call me so I called them. They offered me 7:00 am but I took the 9 slot. I can't get up that early. I might fall asleep while tinkering with it.

Not worried about memory card issues. I'm sure it can be fixed with an update. Trivial issue IMO.

I don't get this, the Contacts aren't stored on the memory card. If that's the case is the whole phone just randomly whiped? I actually had something similar happen to me on my hero but it was just the phone's data. It sort of did a random factory restore. I still had all my MicroSD data though. Only happened to me once though.

Sounds like what happened to me when I hit puberty. :o
