Can we get a sticky?


So, with the Slide finally released, it's time for a tracking thread. We had one of these for the 1.6 update to the G1, and it proved helpful, especially when it was released first across the pond, and it ended up allowing us in the US to get a copy and update manually...


Where are you, and have you gotten the update yet? Any news even? Let's go...


I'm in Austin, TX, and I have NOT gotten mine yet... :(

There has been an announcement that we will get it, just not an official date. It's rumored to be after the Slide is released, which it was. This is when these threads would start, especially when it should already be out, and when there is a chance it wouldn't be announced right away. This way we will know as soon as a user gets it. It was done the same way with the G1, and it worked great...

just north of you my friend in round rock, i still havent gotten it and everyday i get more mad. for the love of god, when are we going to get it? the huge rumor is june 10th, so we will see. i just dont understand why the Sprint Hero has it, and we dont? i think the main concern was trying to dumb down the 2.1 for the first gen mytouch users. ive got the 2nd gen and all i want is the friggin 2.1 update!

Well, since the update will be coming from T-Mobile, and you're not on T-Mobile's network...

That said, it's pretty likely that someone will capture the link to the update, and upload it somewhere, so that you'll be able to install it manually.

Apparently the "offical" release of the slide isn't until the 16, so it may be a bit until the announcement. I hope it's soon for everyone. I had the MT3G briefly and would've loved 2.1 over 1.6.

If the phone is out, then it's "offically" out
 
I don't think the update is hitting until after June 10th, and even then it might not be later. It also isn't coming out for all MT3G only 32A are getting it. :)

I will have to dig back through all the links to find where I heard about the 32A getting the update. I do know it has a lot to do with the internal memory, and how the 32B doesn't carry enough (I would think it's more of, it could carry it, but with a lot of strain).
