Still did not get the OTA anyone else?

just got the update when i woke up at 630 am here on long island, ny. it is now 750 am and finished installing. looks like i will have to play around with it and see how it is and look into trying to root it later tonight if i don't get too confused.

Got the notification this morning. Did a factory reset (1.5) then allowed it to update. Don't have time at work to set it up or play with it.

I finally received mine this morning. The system update was waiting for me when I woke; I didn't have to checkin.

I was on 1.5, in north central MA, etc.

I got the 2.1 ota update yesterday (5/16) and the download went fine. My contacts were saved and things work well with a few small problems. The old weather/clock widget on my home screen force closes. I couldn't fix it via a tip from this forum so I just changed widgets and it's working. The first day, the battery drained much more quickly than it did with 1.5; I'll see how that goes in the next few days before attempting any remedy. Lastly, I just returned from a different area code and now back in my home area code, all my incoming calls have my home area code included (I didn't include area codes when entering numbers for my contacts with my area code) and my phone doesn't recognize these callers. This didn't happen with 1.5. I'll be reading the posts on this forum for the experiences of others for hints and tips that people work out while getting used to 2.1.

Found an Eris 47 days ago. (No contacts, no email, no clues as to who owned the phone. Kept the phone charged, put found ad on c-list, notes at grocery store BBs. Waited three days, then tried to make a call... no service. Why someone wouldn't have called their phone, I dunno. Maybe they didn't like it in the first place, took advantage of their insurance and opted for something else. It sure didn't look like they were taking advantage of anything this phone had to offer.) I've played with it a lot, used it on wifi to access the market for all sorts of interesting apps. Still using my Boost i335 as my communications device, I had never experience anything like this phone. Sorry to be OT, some of the background applies, but I digress... Anyway, there it sits, charged, on 1.5 with the ability for the network to see it all this time if it wanted to. So, I'm guessing that 2.1 is not going to go OTA for this phone; I'll have to do it myself. I'm wondering if I should root this phone just for the curiosity factor alone. Reading this board the past few weeks has been more than an education. I'm sure about one thing; the more I read, the less I really know. With regards to the phone, maybe I should leave it in its pre-pubescent 1.5 cupcake state and then the day after its last, have it bronzed as a shrine to Frisco.

OTA probably won't come, so flash 2.1v3 on that joker and use it as a GPS at least.. Or sell it. Heck, you did the right thing by trying to get it to it's original owner.

Good suggestion, Bishop. I might just do that. Aalso looking at the option to root, so I'm re-reading the protocols on exactly how I should do this, and evaluating the options with respect to what I want to accomplish. Kind of like a chess game. Today, I launched the Eris wifi... oh, looky-looky, there's the OTA waiting for me, like a fishing lure ready for me to chomp down on and get reeled in. Interesting how a little time changes the compulsiveness vs. options. Also have thoughts on OTA vs. 2.1v3... Caddyman says that they're the same thing and if I understand this right, then said that any variances would be verrrry minor... so my thought is that whatever changes Verizon made (if any) would be more of a benefit to them, whereas my guess is from the perspective of the dev, there would be a little more "purity" involved. Nothing to back that up, just an uneducated hunch.

who cares. this ranting is getting old. when you get it you will, if you don't, too bad, install the leak v3.

Idaho here, my brother got his update last night around 8pm. I still haven't gotten it on mine...
I got the 2.1 v2 leak on my phone, while his stayed on 1.5, not sure if that has anything to do with it.

6/7/10 had the phone since 12/09 and its still on the 1.5 it shipped with so how long does this OTA take to update? Seeing its been OTA for a month now, whats the hold up? I can't be the only one who hasn't gotten it yet.

I find that odd at this point, rednotch; you should have seen the prompt by now as it's been weeks since the update began the roll out.

Have you given Verizon a call about that?

If you do not get satisfaction having called them, perhaps you should consider the manual download and installation:

Not yet, I haven't really been following the 2.1 drama, but it was a selling point when they claimed it would be out for the eris in a few weeks when I bought it lol. I just found this threw google. I don't really use it as a smart phone other then browsing the web every now and then but I would like some of the apps that 1.5 doesn't work with. Seeing as it was my first smart phone I was waiting for the OTA since I didn't really want to risk screwing it up. I guess I'll give them a call.

man i lost my eris outside of the grocery store about a month and a half ago this sucks I hope some yahoo with a boost phone isnt downloading all sorts of apps on that sucker :D
