Real talk: I'm going to return my Evo

You can leave your GPS on all the time. The only time the phone uses battery for it is when an app actually uses it (like google maps or navigation). You can tell if this is happening by seeing whether the 'GPS satellite' icon appears in your notification bar.

I think its going to take some weeks to acclimate the noobs to how this works.
My GPS icon was always showing in the system tray. I turned it off and now I get dramatically better life out of the battery. But even with it turned off, it still shows in the system tray, just with a line through it.

Not getting 4G in a 4g city is reason for concern but it could just be your phone or maybe you done really have 4g. Sounds like you sit around searching for 4g all day. That will kill your battery fast. I'd cal Sprint an see if they will do something first. Maybe a discount or replacement.

I have 4g. I have a clear wimax usb modem that I use with my laptop that uses the SAME EXACT 4G NETWORK THAT SPRINT IS USING. I get great reception with it and shit for my evo.

I turned 4g off because I never got any signal worth a damn.

I have been on my phone off and on all day and still have 70%. I have the GPS on with 4G and BT off. I bought 2 extra batteries thinking I would need them, but I have never had to switch the battery. From the first charge the phone has lasted all day each day.

I'm with you except no 4G here. I posted the same very poor battery life and got called every name in the book. At least people are nice to you so far. Best get your Nomex suit on just to be safe..
It's nice to have a nice new phone but you don't have to kid yourself that the battery life is pretty much the worst out of every phone on the market, ya know?

must have a super evo because that's contrary to what I, and others have been getting.

if you want to know whats using GPS, download 'spare parts' from the market and go to 'battery history' then 'gps usage'.

If there are apps causing a problem accessing GPS unnecessarily, uninstall or replace them

i connected at 6 Mbps just a few minutes ago. Way better than any other phone out there. Pros and cons to everything

Mine last just fine. As for "turning off" features of the phone. If you are not utilizing them at the time, why leave them on? I have no complaints thus far as to my battery usage.

If you use the data on ay phone it will drain battery quickly.

Tapatalk. Samsung Moment. Yep.

same for me... I have played games, text, email... I keep off what I don't need... my emails are constant :)

Still at 70% after 8 hours..

The battery on my evo is straight. For users who drain the battery quickly idk what to say. U guys must use it non stop.
Yeah seriously, you have to be doing something dramatic like playing extensive games simultaneously to get only 2 hours battery life.

So you expect us to really believe your phone is dead in 2 hours? 2 Hours? then at the end of your post you say.....back to iphone....

People are being a little to nice to an obvious troll. This phone has been reviewed by the most negative reviewers possible and not one has only gotten 2 hours of battery life. Are you new to technology? Is it so difficult to understand that you can return your phone for one that works like it should. Why should we believe you have really only gotten 2 hours?

Now i am not saying the evo will win a phone battery marathon. But i am calling BS on this 2 hour nonsense.

He's only streaming pandora while surfing the web and sending sms. While on a phone call. That's all though.

why is it really difficult to charge during the middle of the day.. am I missing something?? I keep a USB cable at work (in case) and one the car (for the stereo) and one at home...

I seriously REALLY don't get why it is that big of a deal to charge a battery? I can't even keep my laptop unplugged any more.. I just keep it plugged in.. maybe I miss the big deal.. oh well... I am happy :D

See now there you go....applying logic to a forum ROFL :D

In my experience any CDMA phone in general will eat battery. With that said Im listening to Shoutcast(TuneWiki) over a stereo bluetooth headset and I can get 3-4 hours easy on my EVO.

yeh i'm trying to hold out for the car dock instead of buying a stand alone charger for the car. picking up an OEM htc micro usb cable to keep at work. with all of that, battery issues will be non-existent, no matter how much i'm on it in a day.

Isn't this all getting a little ridiculous....

No one cares if you are taking your EVO back...What do you want a lollipop?

Take it back!! There are still plenty of people waiting in line to get theirs.

Join the "cult" of Apple ($$$)...and leave "us" (you know the people who actually have some intelligence and know how to use an advanced piece of technology without wasting battery life) to enjoying and improving our life with our PERFECTLY functioning EVO's.

I for one could not be any happier with my EVO...well until it learns to get me a cold beer from the fridge.:D
