Gizmodo asks the Question of the Day: iPhone 4 or HTC EVO

Yeah, they are purging pro-Android users over there. I guess they have to keep it safe for the Apple fanboys. Here is the latest comment to my post:

@teky

Uhh the android fanboys pretty much lost their minds when the poll showed overwhelmingly that people were going to get the iPhone 4 as opposed to the Evo 4G and pretty much went buckwild in the comments below...

Not to mention the constant trolling of the editors (accusing them of bias, etc etc).

SO finally they removed the article and then later on shut down all comments...

Not sure how much long I will have an account there. Just sad.

they're probably just trying to regain apples favor after apple snubbed them for the iphone4 prototype issue. Just business... look we're still in your pocket keep giving us your new stuff so we can make money please!

I love stuff like this on either side. reminds us how everything works.

The percentage last time was

44% Iphone
32% EVO

I commented in the article a few times, and I was talking trash with some idiot apple fans.

I personally didn't think it was a fair vote.

The EVO, a brand new device vs a phone that has sold 50 million units globally and was upgrading.

I'm surprised EVO was only down by 12% at the last count.

Ah ha!

They are playing some games for sure over at Engadget.

The article has a byline of June 9th...just look above to confirm it.

Well, now it's here...it time traveled back to June the 7th:

Engadget are a bunch of worms.

It's funny, the other day they had a poll on there that was like -- Will you get the new iPhone: Yes, no (I like my iphone right now), No (I like my n97) or something like that. The comment section exploded on how every option was pro iPhone and neither was an option about Evo or Droid or anything.

--They also had an article poking fun at Evo's lack of lines, then an article on how they oversold the Evo as best ever ... then immediately reported they lied.

I used to like engadget too ... it's a shame.

Engadget are a bunch of worms.
Ok after going to that link, that's a different article, I'm pretty sure.

OK, here's the deal folks. They wrote and posted the article today. Then 'for some mysterious reason', the wanted it to go away, without actually making it disappear. So, they edited the byline to make it look like it appeared 2 days ago and changed the date on the byline. Here is the new 'corrected' article that was posted today, but is now showing up at a link 2 days ago:

iPhone 4 vs. EVO 4G... fight! -- Engadget

I read them about once an hour every day...today was the first time this article showed up...they are playing some serious head games.

Engadget are a bunch of worms.

That's a very different article. The one they pulled was huge and nicely detailed.

No, it's the same one...passivesf posted the original, with the original byline date, just a few comments above.

It isn't. That article was posted that day. It was the first EVO vs iPhone 4 article to come out. Then it was the smartphone spec comparison, then the latest one with the Poll. They really just deleted it completely.

What I don't understand is why? The debate has been rabid ever since iPhone 4 came out so it's not like they didn't expect it. I love engadget but this just comes off funky.

That's kind of odd though, Engadget was sackriding the EVO pretty hard up until the release. I guess being owned by AOL does that to you. And I'm sure they are in the Apple's pocket one way or another.

Engadget are a bunch of worms.

OK, it was the wrong article...I didn't read it close enough.

The one we are talking about did, indeed, disappear.

i think the iPhone would win a popular vote but I think engadget (and techgrunch, gizmodo, et al) is starting to realize that android users aren't simpletons, a lot actually read tech news and don't have to eat through a straw. So what happens is that the tech-aware actually can get in and dominate a poll like this since even though real android fans still are outnumbered by those that have Jobs nuts slapping on their chin, they are far more active and informed, and that is threatening to the status quo.

Funny thing is that we aren't going away. Stuff like this needs to be re-posted and exposed across the innerwebs so they'll have no choice but to acknowledge it.

They try to appear neutral...I think they just needed Steve to show up and blow their minds. Did you see how much coverage they gave the iPhone 4? Yesterday was pretty much Steve Jobs day at Engadget. The EVO 4G got some nice 'second runner up' words when it came out, but nothing like what they gave Apple.

iPhone talk draws traffic that doesn't regularly visit their site, so it makes sense for the massive coverage.

If the link doesn't work then search for "Engadget Is Apple's Bitch"

:)

Also if somebody could make an anti-engadget logo I would appreciate it. I have zero photoshop skills.

I seriously suck at photoshop too... But here's a basic one:

To be fair, the market for the iPhone (and hence the market for news ABOUT the iPhone) is simply much larger. The iPhone 3G sold 1 million phones on the first weekend. Sprint sold 150K Evos. That's an order of magnitude difference.
