Help Adding Multiple Email Accounts?

Hi everyone, I need your help. Coming over from WebOS where I able to add multiple email addresses by simply inputting the user name and password. How do I add my email accounts in Android or is it possible?
 
touch mail, then touch the top status bar in mail, and you will see "new account"...
couldnt be easier...

Ok I saw that part but if I am trying to add say my Ymail account with Yahoo what do I use Exchange ActiveSync or Other? When I use either it asks for a server address and domain...Is all that necessary?
 
yahoo mail is a little tricky to setup on this phone
I assume you have already setup a gmail account, which you need to do first...
 
yahoo mail, gmail, hotmail are both super easy to setup on this device..

for the above,, enter your email and password. the evo already knows the parameters and will set them for you.

i have about 9 email accounts plus exchange.. some of those email accts are from my own email server. the user guide on the evo will give you more info on it. if you need more personal help, feel free to send me a PM...

It's ok, I appreciate you trying to help though. It is the only account that is troubling me. Ymail is just another yahoo client mail account. Its accessed through yahoo mail just like a regular yahoo account you just have to be sure to put @ymail.com after your user name when logging in.

Marc, getting Motorola Droid next week and doing a little research. If I understand gmail is native to the droid? From reading your post you can add other accounts? I assumed I would use other browser email, i.e. msn, yahoo, etc from the browser, but it would be nice if it just comes to my inbox.

Also my work email is pop3/smtp. I can add that also.

Assume I can't send from more than one address? Can I use my work smtp, (I am the admin) or do I have to use gmail to send?

Yes, you can add almost any type of account, at least on the EVO you can; Gmail is native, and you will have a stand alone account for it, but you can incorporate in what ever email client you decide upon
You should be able to send from your smtp server at work, unless there is some sort of security algorithm that doesn't allow you to use it as an outgoing email server anywhere except from work; you may have to change the default outgoing port number on the phone, and, you might have to change the default security level for the outgoing mail server, but, it should work.
On the EVO, it asks you to specify the default email account, so just make your work email the default then, it should automatically send from it..
 
That's pretty much what I thought. I was just looking at a co-workers droid and it looks like, to use the native gmail, you just add the accounts to gmail like you would on the pc. Easy enough, but I think I'll look at other clients. I use several email addresses and the gmail one is for a specific thing so don't want to muddy it up.

Anyone have suggestions for email clients for the Droid? Don't need anything fancy except ability to pull from several pop3s. Easy to switch defaults so sending address changes would be a nice to have.

No doubt there may be many fine alternative email clients out there but for what you are describing you should be able to do that with the native "mail" client (as opposed to the Gmail client, the phone comes standard with two mail clients). For example I have both Gmail and Yahoo mail and used the mail client to add my Yahoo account. Then, while in the mail client, I can switch between Gmail and Yahoo as my mail accounts.
 
Thanks. I just figured that out on hers. Found the mail client. Sets up like any other and the selection for default account is easy.

Looking good so far. Be glad when I can play with my own.
 
switched to K9 email weeks ago and love it..unified inbox is sweet, and it handles all email protocols easily
 
Wondering if anyone found an answer to this. Gmail and yahoo mail set up real easy however, @ymail.com will not
 
I'm used to iPhone where you can see all email accounts (and how many new emails are on each acct in one main screen) in one screen. As far as I can tell, on EVO, I need the MAIL (for POP3), Gmail (for Gmails) and Yahoo Mail (for yahoo mails) apps for each of these and have to click through each of these to check the mails. Is this true or is there a way to combine all types of mails into one gateway icon and check everything in one page?
 
It is possible with everything but yahoo from what I understand. They make it nearly impossible to use it with anything but their app. I use gmails fetch function...it grabs all of my mail from each account and they all come to my gmail or htc inbox. Yahoo was letting people use this fetch function but only if the user paid them a fee of some sort.

I have no experience with yahoo mail....but from what I have read it is a pain . All others can be set up in a similar fashion to what you had on an iphone simply by using the stock mail app and following the directions

That's a feature that many call an "Integrated Inbox" - and I've not seen seen this yet for Android.

As Mr. Ed points out, you can have all of your email accounts serviced by the stock email app - I have several accounts handled this way, including .mac and .gmail - it's just a quick pull-down from the top of the email page to cruise between the various accounts.

Not exactly an integrated inbox, but still mighty handy.
