Root Fresh EVO 0.2 ROM Available

If I could find instructions, I'd benchmark my stock ROM right now.

Edit: Scratch that - using LinPack, I'm getting about 6.1-6.2 MFLOPS.

Edit2: Using ATK and closing most things I'm not currently using dropped my average to around 4.8 for a while, then it went up to 5.8 - 6.1 MFLOPS. Definitely going to Root and Freshify tomorrow.

My 4G was slow (speedtest.net went from ~2.4 Mbps dl before to 1.3 after) so I ran the fresh 4g fix, and speeds are about 1.0-1.1 Mbps.... fail. Ping is much higher too (377 compared to 108 before).

Note: I ran the radio update when I installed the Fresh ROM.

Edit: Also, my sound doesn't work anymore. I don't get the "Freshhhhh" on startup, nor do apps or muic players make sound. Mic and earpiece don't work, and neither does the headphone jack.

Does this ROM allow access to copy-protected Market apps? For example, NYtimes app. Just wondering if it includes release keys.

are there any advantages to this over stock rom other than few stock apps removed?

Runs smoother and faster. LinPack would give me 5.8-6.2 MFLOPS before, now it's usually 6.8-7.0. I'm not exaggerating.

That said, the entire process was a pain and took me over 6 hours total. Still, in the long run it's worth it to me. Not having bloatware is very nice, and again, the phone runs a bit better.

I've been running it since yesterday morning and so far everything is great except I cannot get the HtcFMRadio to install. I see it in the fresh-removed-apks folder but when I try to install I get a generic message saying "Application not installed". I'm just browsing to the file with ASTRO and trying to install it. Anyone else having this issue or know about some other install method that I should be using?

you have to push the fm apk into /system/apps. Check his forums for how to do it.
I think its HtcFmradio.apk, just use its name.

This is how I reinstalled the oneyouwant.apk file. Forgive me if I am being too simplistic.

1. Connect USB cable from computer to phone and boot the phone into recovery mode
2. On the computer, go to "Start", then "Run" and enter "cmd" and then enter to open the command prompt (or any of the other methods to open a command prompt)
3. Within the command prompt, navigate to where your sdk/tools folder is at (use "cd.." and enter to go up in the directory and "cd folder name" to enter a folder within the open directory
4. Enter "adb shell mount /sdcard"
5. Enter "adb shell mount /system"
6. Enter "adb shell"
7. Enter "cp /sdcard/fresh-removed-apks/oneyouwant.apk /system/app"
8. Reboot the phone

FYI - If using Windows7, you can copy the commands from here and paste into the command prompt.

Thanks! I've been a rooter/hacker/whatever (WinMo and WebOS) for years but am not completely comfortable with Android and the methods used. I'll try it later tonight! Thanks!

Hey does Fresh look visually different then what comes stock on the EVO?

I only ask because all the screen shot have the PHONE button/bar looking different then what I see on my phone now.

Unplugged from the charger today at 6:30am today. It's now 5:30pm and I'm at 8/10 bars on battery. Granted, I spent 8-5 at work with it on vibrate, but I still sent a handful of texts and did some emails (maybe 15) off my phone during the day. That said, last week with stock unrooted ROM I had 7/10 bars by 1:00pm with similar usage.

Short version: my battery life seems to be significantly improved since I got fresh running and working properly.

got Fresh 0.2 installed last night. So far so good but havent had a chance to really use it much yet. But interested to see how much battery is left at the end of my work day since usually my phone just sits

I did notice one quirky thing, when I go to set my alarm clock ring tone, all the ring tones show up twice (duplicates) in the list. Not sure if I should report that here or somewhere else.

Flashed Fresh 0.2 and so far it's great. I might have found one issue though. The dictate speech option on my keyboard does not function. Does anyone else have this issue or is it an isolated thing I should look into?

Just tried it... doesn't seem to work for me either on either of the keyboards.
