in attempts to have the max capacity of the Inc, im wondering if anyone has successfully installed the 32g micro sd card.

Im not looking for the practicality of it vs. the 16g, but the actual implementation of one on the Inc. (does it need to be formatted, etc??)

thanks in advance

I'm wondering this as well.

Yeah was afraid someone would say that. How much does a 16GB go for? Any recommendations on a good one?

Thank you.

I got a sandisk off amazon for $20, have a friend using the dane-electronics or some brand with no issues - not sure how much he paid.

Aren't there better quality ones or faster ones? Not saying yours is bad just wanted to make sure I get a decent one. But heck, for 20 bucks, that sounds awesome.

Yeah I got my 16gig ScanDisk for $20 from dealaday , works great. While the extra 16gigs would be nice , $180 extra is not that nice lol

Most likely theres is a class 2 that's what mine is but honestly there is really no diffrence when i nthe phone . Only time you'll notice the diffrence is transfering large files onto the card from your computer. My card before this was a class 4 8gb card but it really wasn't even noticable when transfering data on to the card . So I don't see the point in spending the extra money on a class 4/6 card .

I believe the HTC Incredible needs the 2.2 Foyo update to recognize a 32GB micro SD card.

I would suggest a 16GB Micro SD Card if you want one now.

Here is the cheapest class 10 available:
SDC1016GBSP Kingston Technology 16GB Micro SDHC Card (Class 10), SD Adapter Not Included

Cheapest class 6 available:
Lexar 16GB High Speed Micro Secure Digital High Capacity (SDHC) Card, P/N: LSDMI16GBSBNAR. - Best Computer Online Store Dallas Buy Discount Prices Texas-Axiontech.com

The following are the ratings of some currently available cards:

  • Class 2: 16 Mbit/s (2 MB/s)
  • Class 4: 32 Mbit/s (4 MB/s)
  • Class 6: 48 Mbit/s (6 MB/s)
  • Class 10: 80 Mbit/s (10 MB/s)

The class speed rating mainly comes into play when copying data/music from your laptop to the phone/card.

The first 32GB Micro SD Card was just released in March 2010 by SanDisk.

thanks for the data!

i think i will wait a bit for the 2.2 release, and just use a 16gb card for now.

Right now frys.com has a polaroid (PNY) 16gb micro sdhc card for $13 after rebate plus $2 shipping. It's class 2 but a bunch of people have tested it and said typical is closer to class 6.
EDIT: Nevermind, looks like it's back out of stock again.

A friend at work took a plunge on a $36 32GB card off of ebay from china. So far so good, though I've heard it's hit or miss.

And for me on he 32g card from China...it was a miss. I ran the h2testw on it and found it had all of . . . well, here's the results after being freshly formatted:

The media is likely to be defective.
1.9 GByte OK (4093952 sectors)
28.3 GByte DATA LOST (59351040 sectors)
Details:0 KByte overwritten (0 sectors)

28.3 GByte corrupted (59351040 sectors)
0 KByte aliased memory (0 sectors)

H2testw version 1.3
Writing speed: 1.13 MByte/s
Reading speed: 6.12 MByte/s
H2testw v1.4

Nice. i think I'll file with PayPal. It cost $37. I thought I had done some solid research on this but apparently not solid enough.

32GB microSD cards are extremely difficult to manufacture right now. If you find any for under $100, it is 100% absolutely a fake.

I think amazon had one for 92$.....

tempting, but if it cannot be used.... (dont quite understand formatting)

32gb is a big production wall for microsd. Notice that the gap from 8gb to 16gb was about a third the time gap of 16gb to 32gb? Believe it or not, $200 is a bargain, compared to what they cost to make and actually yield functioning memory. When all is said and done, the same price scale drops through time that we saw with 16gb will be at least four times as long for 32gb.

Class 4 or higher will be an affordable cost pipedream for a looooong time.

I knew I was rolling the dice on this but the seller's feedback was strong so I went for it.

Plus, Amazon will cover you for fraud. May take a while to get your money back, though.

BTW, there is no way this is legit, unless it "fell" from the back of a truck ;)

Why not just buy a few 16GB cards? Hard reset your phone with NO SD card in, and when you activate it, it will start storing all the normal phone stuff to the internal 8GB (like web cache, app data, etc) That way the SD card can be hot swapped for music, movies, porn, etc. They come in those little cases, too, so just toss them all in one and there ya go. Convenient, no. Cheap, yes.

A TAD off topic but I needs the help! I have a 16 GB card that my 2 year old Dell Studio w/ Vista 15 will NOT recognize no matter what I've tried. Anyone else have this issue, and if so, any ideas???? I would REALLY appreciate any info because I'm going nuts with this...

Have you tried a different adapter or a different card reader? My old Dell was a pain with memory cards. I had two different readers that I used. One for the Sandisk cards and one for my Kingston cards.

They're not fake. They're simply test rejects from the manufacturing process. Whether they work or not, they likely failed QA on some level and thus don't meet the criteria for warranty protection. Buyer beware, user beware. Don't store critical data on these things if they have zero errors at first use.

Well, I've tried both a Sandisk HD reader and, of course, in the phone itself....
