Root [MetroPCS & T-Mobile] [GUIDE] Unbrick OR Unroot LG Optimus F3 [KDZ]

Update:

No such luck, it's refusing to install, but I thank you for your attempt. The only thing I can possibly think to do is find a way to force the Android to detect hardware, and so far I have had no luck with that.

So as of now, I am officially on the hunt for a method to make the firmware be all liek "OH SNAP! A CAMERA BRO!"

It's forcing to install right? OK then go to system/app and put it in then. That should force it to be installed, but you do have metro pcs now so that might be why it's refusing to install.

It just gives me Install Failed no matter where I put it. :C I cri. I even erased the old camera to see if that was the issue.

I can't find a cab file to Encrypt Cab File... everything so far is working... any ideas? I'm looking in my extracted KDZ download file.

Sorry never mind, i was looking for a .cab file, when i needed to skip that step, go to the proper working directory and then to the right, choose the kdz file. Fixed.

How to get into emergency mode:
Powered off the phone, press and hold volume up and connected the usb cable.
To get out of e-mode, pull battery (do not do this while flashing firmware!)
Picture of emergency mode (Thanks to dschach):

Before flashing firmware, please make sure your battery is well charged. Flashing does not charge your phone, and flashing can take up to 30 minutes.

Instructions:

  1. Install phone drivers
  2. Install msxml.msi
  3. Disable antivirus software
  4. If the file you downloaded ends in KDZ, skip to step 12
  5. Open UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe
  6. Wait for the program to open
  7. Look for "Encrypt cab file to kdz file"
  8. Click the folder icon
  9. Choose the location of the cab you downloaded for LGVM720 firmware
  10. Encrypt cab -> kdz Program will freeze up. DO NOT EXIT until program says Done!!! Otherwise it won't finish converting.
  11. Close program
  12. Open KDZ_FW_UPD.exe
  13. "Type" choose 3GQCT
  14. Choose in "Phonemode": Emergency
  15. Click the folder icon and choose the kdz file that UpTestEX_mod2_marwin.exe just made.
  16. Click Launch software update and enjoy!

If you are stuck in a bootloop, do this (it will factory reset by following this):

The software update kdz project freezes please help

so what i noticed on device manager there is an unknown device when i plug in my phone whether on download or emergency mode could that be the problem to the lparam 64 error

OMG this worked for my T-Mobile LG Optimus f6!! Thank you so much... for anyone else having my problem its pretty simple. Use all the provided links in this tut except for the actual ROM, for the f6 download the rom from here.

Its a KDZ file in the zip, so you can skip using UpTestEX.

I have the same problem as Moonstar and others. Rooted MetroPCS version (MS65910) worked great for 18 months and then about a month ago used the unbrick method described at the front of this thread to deal with the com.android.com error. This worked fine until yesterday when I rebooted and it just stays on the LG logo. I've tried the unbrick method but this time no dice. I get the lParam = 64 error. Error log is attached. I've read that sometimes this is computer-dependent, so I've tried this on three different computers and gotten the same error. Can anyone help? I love this phone and hope to get it working again.

For those getting an error trying to run the update (it may be the lParam = 64 error), check how much free disk space you have on your C: drive. I was getting an error and found that it was caused by low disk space on C:. From what I can tell, the firmware flasher needs at least 2.25GB of free space on C: to function, so to be safe I'd say 2.5GB or 3GB free.
