The historic LA fires :(

This thread should really be in P&CA but that's above my paygrade... nevertheless, @ocnbrze you and I have been on this platform for a LONG time and I won't let a good thing get ripped up over one issue. The truth in it all, despite whatever news media reports (I don't watch ANY of it, it's all narrative), will eventually be revealed. Whether positive steps are enacted to mitigate this sort of disaster in the future remains to be seen.

I think it's really sad that people are agonizing over celebrities' homes being burned up (as if they can't build another one and pay cash for it) - there are so many people who live in LA, entertainment industry or not, who don't have that luxury. I just hope everything works out for them, regardless of where they decide to go.
it was never my intention to bring politics into this, but i have to defend the truth. when people bring up false claims or put blame when it is not true, i have to say something.

i hate when celebrities do nothing but cry over the fires and their homes. i love it when celebrities do not cry over it, but steps up and help people.

here is an excellent explanation of the Santa Ana winds that are fueling the fires.

no reading involved.

How about everyone just drop the politics bashing and just help the people and the area affected by the fires?
Stop pointing fingers right now.
Fix the mess, help out how you can.
Shoulda woulda coulda isn't helping.
I agree. We are such a small group that I was inclined to let this ride down the slippery slope. Lets put the politics in it's given area and talk the status of the fires and what might be done to help the situation here. I do not want to close or move this thread. It is an epic disaster unfolding that will ultimately effect us all at some point. Thanks

I have read everything and strongly believe what OcnBreeze said, was like everything is just one big movie they are ready to watch.
And what should we all do, just watch them burn to their own makers of the hot topic.

What kills me in today's age is when you say something as a joke and then people have to respond with all these news links trying to prove whatever point their is. Calm down people, laugh a little. Life is too short.

Oh for Christ's stop it. Nary a thing you pretend to be true or to be the case is true, it's not at all factual or based on reality. Take your conspiratorial crap back to the politics thread and continue to slap each other's backs there. This is a horrendous situation and not fodder for your bullshit. Seriously, knock it off.

Dear mods, delete away.
I think there is plenty of evidence to show what an absolute cluster **** los Angeles and California has become as whole. While I pretty much could care less about the state of California and los Angeles l am praying that all members of this forum who are in California and the los Angeles area are safe and ok

For all the negative stuff in the media, here's the GOOD side:

Just as this guy talks about the long-haul aftermath and recovery, the media has long-disappeared from western North Carolina but people are still living in tents: and it's COLD. It's months later, when the media has moved on to the new shiny thing, that disaster victims need the most help. Because that's when public attention is drawn away from them and no one thinks about them anymore.

so this is a very interesting discussion about what happened using science and not politics:

and here are some ideas on how to prevent homes from burning and how we need to build better:
