Root 1-click root yet?

Noob question here, before I root do I need to make a backup of everything on my phone? I'm assuming yes from the research I've done, do I need to purchase a backup program/ which one is the best?

Also, once rooted, I like sense and would like to keep it and just remove the bloat. Is there any custom ROMS out there that utilize sense? Should I just keep sense and download a kernal to undervolt and overclock/underclock my CPU?

Thanks in advance for the help!

Yes, make a backup with 'ROM Manager' and backup your downloaded apps with 'titanium backup'.

Every ROM is sense based, some just have more than others left in tact.

Check out BAMF, or Perfect Storm which IMO are the best ROM's available right now. The newest version of BAMF has an optional zip to de-sense the ROM, but comes 'stock' with all the good sense stuff still there.

Again, IMO, but one of BAMF's devs, Adrynalyne, has a kernel, 4.4.2 that is amazing. Comes built into BAMF v 1.5 already so no need to flash it separately.

I ran Perfect Storm 1.2 for a while, with Adryn's 4.4.2 kernel and they run terrific together. Currently running the combo in my signature...

There is also a leaked radio upgrade that will be official from HTC shortly that u can also flash as well.
