Root *****10/4/13*****New OTA DO NOT DOWNLOAD IF YOU'RE ROOTED

ok so you have the latest hboot 1.15 and you are partly rooted in that you have an unlocked bootloader and you have a custom recovery from teamwin called TWRP.

now exactly what are you trying to do? what is the issue you are having?

Funny, i did not realize I was rooted. I was just trying to download the latest phone update.
I would like to unroot and download the latest update.

ok that is one thing i need to do some research on as i just got this phone myself a few weeks ago and i'm still learning. i think all you need to do is run a ruu and you should be fine. give me a few minutes or so to find out what you need to do, unless someone else can chime in for me.

The phone needs to be re-locked first and then RUU. Running the RUU will wipe the phone

What if your 1.12 phone died?

I remember 3D phone can never be s-off anymore. I think its the lack of interest?

Yup, you wont hear about someone working on it until its announced they found an exploit

Honestly, if we didn't have HTC dev I bet wed have it already

I'm rooted and am running mean bean rom and just a few ago I just got a notification for an update in OTA updater. I did not update, but was wondering if it was possible to delete the OTA application and stop that from occurring? I know that it sounds like a dumb question but I just didn't know if it would effect the rom.

That particular OTA update is okay to accept. If you click on it you'll see it's an update for Mean Bean. Some devs are building in their own OTA updater apps. But good idea being cautious and not accepting. You can probably delete the OTA updater app and it will stop that. I'm not certain if it's essential for the ROM or not, but I doubt it is.

If I OTA update will it set my phone back to stock?
Because I'm s-off and I flashed a rom's kernel and I honestly just want to put my phone e back to normal and u have no idea how..

if you have s-off you will be safe taking the ota if that is what you want. it is much easier to just flash the stock rooted rom though....plus much safer......in general i would always use the rule of never taking an ota while you are rooted.

is there a reason why?

in the meantime this will explains things more:

If you are on a custom ROM chances are taking the ota isn't going to be a good idea.

The ota isn't the full stock ROM, its only bits and pieces of the new stuff. It probably wont turn out too well if you try to accept it.

There are a few things that must be true before Ill suggest taking an ota while rooted, and being on the stock ROM is one of them. I still wouldn't try it if you were only running a custom kernel.

I'd suggest flashing the stock ROM or running the ruu if you want to go back to stock

ok so i updated the title and the op to reflect what the latest ota is all about.

again as always do not accept this ota even though it is merely a maintenance updated. it is nothing major really. all of the custom roms have most of these issues fixed.

Anyone that is S-ON and rooted with a custom recovery should AVOID RELOCKING taking this OTA AT ALL COSTS!!!!

If you do, you won't be able to access your recovery.

See here, for example: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=2126626

You shouldn't do it anyway, as is stated multiple times in this thread and in bold print in the topic, but I felt I should reiterate due to the current finality of the touch panel situation.

The new tp_SYN3032.img (touch panel image) prevents any access to the touch screen in custom recovery, or in custom (non-stock) ROMs. I initially flashed the full firmware and had this happen to me. Rolling back to the version from the previous ROM version (3.15) gets it working again, but it was a hassle to deal with.

I also posted up some stock rooted full ROM versions of the OTA here in case anyone really wants to try it. And of course my firmware thread has the full firmware minus the problem images already posted.

So please, use the above resources, and do not learn the hard way!!

Thanks, Cap'n!

Anyone who doubts, I say -
