Accessories $15 - 2600mah Extended Batteries - eBay

Ok, I've had a chance to use it for 1 cycle. It arrived with about 64% juice. I put it in my Fommy external charger (not bad for $15) and took it off after light turned green.

Note that, with the charger, you can't really do a "bump charge," because I guess it's the Incredible that has an issue with "topping off" and not the battery. I tried putting the battery back on the charger after light turned green; the light REMAINED green. Just a heads up.

My usage

3 still pictures
30 min Sirius streaming over 3G
50% brightness (but 100% for about 30 min)
BT, GPS off
WiFi or 3G on at all time, not both
114 min talk time (1:56 hrs)
15 min browsing
5-8 texts

My estimates for battery life for 100% charge (usage has been moderate and constant):

Uptime: 24:18 hrs
Awake: 10:38 hrs

This is roughly on par with the OEM 2150 for $14 ! I paid $49 for the 2150 after 25% discount.

This battery will definitely get you through a work day with moderate use. Heavy use? Maybe.

Impressions

The back cover is sweet. Feels smooth and the material is sturdier than the stock cover and OEM extended cover. Personally, I think this back cover really improves the ergonomics: the phone is much thicker than stock (probably 35-40% thicker) but the phone also feels much nicer like this. The OEM ext. cover is nice, but because the center part of the rear juts out and the test of the phone is almost as thin as stock, I don't get a good feel when handling the phone. I have small hands and prefer this 3rd party back to the stock 2150 back.

BONUS - Power Button

The back cover for the 2150 makes the power button "mushy" and harder to push. The 2600 back is perfect: the power button even makes a slight click (that's not because it rubs against the cover).

The 2600 true capacity is probably closer to 2200-2300 but I would not put it under the OEM 2150.

Thickness

The 2600 and 2150 are nearly identical in thickness. I even used the 2150 with the 2600 back and did not notice "slack" (I tried to push down on the cover to see if it flexes due to a gap between it and the 2150...nope!).

I will be posting a review of the Seidio 3500 soon. I'll also try to take a picture of the 2600 back on (while on the phone).

Im curious since you also have the 2150. How much thicker is the 2600 battery. ?
Would it fit under the 2150 back and visa versa?

Also is there any shadowing when using.the flash with that back?

Nope! No shadowing that I've noticed. I'll take some more photos and see if I notice it, but it wasn't there and I don't expect it to be.

I'll post photos if it does shadow.
 
I bought a couple my wife and I. She thinks it's too thick for everyday. It's now about as thick as a digital camera. The only time I dropped mine wityh the old battery is when I used it as a camera, so maybe a bit of thickness is good for some. But it is now usable into the evening without worries about the battery going into the brown zone. It is a bit heavier too. I'm sticking with the bigger battery. For my use, I got only about 6 hours certain of use without recharging.
 
went for a longer ride today - battery is 20% after 5 hours
4 gps+pandora, 1h phone call, plus a photo.

no question about it - for $14 and free shipping this is a winner!

There is no speaker hole, but it does not effect the speaker at all.

So i Am on my vacation, and on my second day after a full charge:
35 hours uptime
5 hours active -mostly 3g use (browser, engadget,etc)
15% remaining

Certainly not bad at all for a $15 battery..

I returned it yesterday.

I think the OEM 2150 is a good battery, and the primary reason I would have kept it is the confidence in the HTC name for the longevity of the battery. Meaning, I am more confident that the 2150 will hold its charge over more charge cycles than a 3rd party.

However, the 2600 (really 2200-2300 probably) is less than 1/3 the price of the 2150, plus the 2600 back is far nicer in my opinion.

I did not notice the lack of a speaker hole. Good call.

Consider the extended OEM back is $15 (I think). You're getting a sturdier, better designed (I think so) back plus a battery for the same price as an extended, OEM back.

How long will the 2600 hold its charge? Who knows.

I'm glad I got an external charger, though. No "bump" charging required. I got it for $15 from Fommy.com
 
I bought my 2150 battery online. Can I return it to a store, or do I have to ship it back?

I'm really considering getting this battery, I'm just concerned on how it will perform a couple months from now.

Great question. Remember that, with the free shipping of items you purchase through Verizon (online or phone, I think they are both regarded as the same), you also get a free return shipping label for 2 day FedEx.

It didn't cost me anything to ship it out. It may be a hassle for some to find a FedEx drop off station, though.

doesn't effect it at all?? sound didn't seem muffled? i use speaker when making calls a lot plus already have some small issues with ring not being loud enough (prolly just the ringtone im using but still)
 
Are there any cases that would be usable with the extended back? I don't really have a problem dropping my phone but it's nice to have a little cushion just in case. Thanks.

If you look on Amazon, there is a silicon "skin" (i.e. not hard silicone) sold by Lux that's listed at $0.02 or $0.01 and reviews say it is "loose" on the stock Incredible.

I ordered one because, if it's loose on the stock phone, it should have more room to stretch over the phone plus with the 2600 back. Proportionately, the shape of the phone is still about the same with the 2600 back, so the skin needs to simply stretch.

I'll update my review when I get the silicone skin.
 
Here you go.

I one picture, I put the stock (1300 mAh) back up against the phone, so you can see how much taller it makes it. This should be the second to last photo and the one before it (3rd to last).

In another picture, I put an empty hard silicone skin so you can see the depth differential again. This should be the last photo.

I brightened the photos will fill light. Hope it gives you a good idea.

I can say that the phone feels much better in the hand with the 2600 back cover.

After seeing the pics I love the back. I am ordering the package for $21.99 comes with 2 batteries, back and external charger.
Gonna return my 2150.

Bearly what's your thought on the lack of speaker hole, is the speaker phone work ?

Where is this $21.99 deal? Is that for two 2600 mAh batteries? Can you post a link?

Speaker phone:

I think I used it once and did not have a problem. My reasoning is that, since the back cover is stiff, sound should reverberate better, and the back is not thick to block out sound. If you have the phone the same distance from your mouth that you normally do when using speaker phone, your voice should not go through muffled. I haven't had complaints.

There ya go, my external battery charger is getting kinda slow so can't beat the deal. and figured for an extra $7 you get an extra battery as well
 
FWIW I have purchased the ebay batteries before because they seem to be such great deals. I have not purchased this one specifically. They do work great in the beginning but my experience has been that their performance deteriorate over time. Some deteriorated as fast as a month and some took a little longer.

For all cases, I eventually ended up purchasing the oem extended battery.

This is what I'm worried about. Even though I have bought the eBay battery, I think I'm going to hold on to my 2150 and give the eBay battery away.
 
No speaker hole is dumb as dumb can be. By acoustical default, not having the hole WILL make a difference and be weaker sound.

I guess a drill would fix that, but the spacing difference will still result in weaker sound. Still, they obviously decided the flash and camera holes were enough. No way it would sound as "good" drilled out, as it would with a contoured cover with similar spacing as the current holes do now. Not to mention it will be hard to find decent cases. Mega chunga! ;)

The picks above looks like my N900 now and it does not have an extended battery ;)

Still, for 15 bucks....
