Root [1st Gen] Kindle fire rom install going wrong

I installed my kindle fire with a ics rom and it worked fine. Then i started on my moms using the same steps once i restarted the device it loaded the install screen different color boxes flying around and it is stuck it did this all night.

I tired to restart it and it will either go to a blank screen or back to that screen with the box.

The kindle utilty says it reads the kindle but it does nothing im at wits end the other one went fine can anyone help i can send screen shots and more info if needed

Which ROM were you trying to install? And which recovery were you using?
 
I used the kindle fire utilty using twrp recovery and the Energy.4.29.2012.Kindle.Fire.CM9.ICS rom its went to the first load screen and never left from that screen left it overnight on the charger the next morning it was still flipping the boxes now it loads to a blank screen with black light

Is that TWRP 2.0?

That ROM (and I believe any others that use the 3.0 kernel) require TWRP 2.0 in order to flash the ROM. I ran into similar issues when I was using CWM and I didn't read all the fine print. ;)
 
I would also recommend booting into recovery and flashing the ROM yourself. Maybe try it again that way and see if maybe it is KFU causing the issue.
 
It won't reboot at all, even when doing a hard reset (holding the power button down for 15-20 seconds or so)? Not even to the Fire Fire Fire stuff?
 
nope i see the kindle fire logo and it goes black or it goes to the flipping boxes and just keeps flipping i can install the drivers with the flipping boxes but i cant see it as a mass drive. and the kfu dont read it
 
I'm really not sure (I've not had anything like that happen to mine), but you can try reflashing the FFF bootloader with KFU. It sounds like something may be going on with the bootloader, you should see that fire triangle thing when you boot it before the boot animation.
 
I'm at work and the link you posted is blocked, so I don't know for certain what you're seeing. So you can't get into recovery at all? Even after a battery pull, you should get the option to select your bootmode by pressing the power button a couple of times as long as you have the most recent FFF bootloader. Then once you get into recovery, you can flash or restore. you might have had a bad rom download or something.
