My droid constantly crashes " stopped unexpectedly" "force close" on random programs. maps/email/msg/games/market

a factory reset fixes it for a day or so, but it is annoying. I have factory resetted it atleast 30 times.

is this a problem other people are having?
search turned up nothing special.

I have my emails from earthlink sincing through Companionlink to my Droid and I have 3 emails that will not delete. Please let me know what to do to delete them. :(

Since the Update, every once in a while, My phone won't display any media I have on it. The Gallery says I don't have any pictures, and the Music app can't find any music on my phone. I first noticed the music thing when my text message notifications stopped playing when I received a text. When I searched for the song, I couldn't find it. I rebooted the phone, and it displayed all the music I have, and all the pictures also. however after a few days the problem happened again...

Is anyone else having this problem? Does anyone know what the problem is, or how I can fix it?

My phone has been erasing itself and force closing apps since last Saturday. It was working perfectly fine beforehand and I never rooted it. Now every time I reboot it has me go through the first time set up. Needless to say I'm a bit irritated with it.

Well I didn't see my issue in this thread any where. I just bought my droid last week and the 2.1 update was installed almost immediately so I don't know if this is due to my phone or the update but when I go to compose a text message and I click on the text field where you enter a name or number, it wont pull up any of my contacts. When I had my Droid Eris all I had to do was begin typing a name and it would pull up all of my contacts that began with the letters I typed in. For some reason my Droid wont pull contacts from my phone book but rather contacts from my Facebook which don't exist in my phonebook. Can't figure out how to fix it.

You need to make sure that the contact's mobile number is actually set to mobile within the contact. If it is set to something like like home or work, it won't show up when you begin typing the contact's name.

Well, I used to put the Motorola Droid next to me in the Multimedia Mode thanks to its stand.
But now every time I place it in there, a message comes up that the multimedia program has failed - even after I rebooted by removing the battery.

All worked well before, and only failed after I upgraded to 2.1 (officially called "2.1-update1", Kernel Ver 2.6.29-omap1)...

Ciao,
Klaus

I'm on the Motorola Android, with firmware version 2.1 update 1

I get the error
Code:
the process android.process.media has stopped unexpectedly. Please try again.
ALL the time, either when trying to download something from the market (and then the download doesn't work, I have to just cancel it out and can't download anything), when I use certain apps that access the internet, and even when I first start up my phone.

It will usually do it twice in a row, when I go to report it. I'm not sure of the cause, it just started the other day, I got my phone like 3 days ago, and it was fine the first day, I've been downloading quite a few apps though.

Anyone know the cause, or how to fix it?

I've had the same issue happen three times in the last two days. I reported it and hope that something is fixed because of it. The other weird thing is that when I received a call my phone had the program screen pop up (when you dial *228) and I couldn't answer a call. That was far stranger.

Ya I was reading around and someone said formating their card fixed it for a few days, but I tried completely removing my card and still got the error @ startup. Someone else said restoring their phone to factory default helped for a little, but have restored it like 30 times lol. I hope they find a real fix for this :)

No major issues, but my startup screen does seem to take a LOT longer before the phone actually loads, and once it does none of my buttons/widgets appear for another 5-10 seconds. Additionally, once in a while when exiting a program none of the buttons are on the home screen for 3-5 seconds, and sometimes a Force Close error pertaining to the home activity will pop up ... anyone else experience anything similar, or even just notice a longer boot time?

Yep, I've been seeing the same thing. This never happened until after the 2.1 update.

I've seen the phone get worse ever since I did the manual 2.1. Lags all the time and my reception has gone way down. I've tried *228 and I have already done the fatctory reset and it does not seem to have helped either problem. I have only reloaded a few apps and no home screen/launcher. Still slow and buggy. Is it possible to go back to 2.01??

So...first time poster,

looking for some help with a strange problem.

Background:
- Bought Motorolla Droid in Shanghai (china)
--Does not appear to be cracked/hacked (I know the vendor)

After setting the location to English 90% of the text changed on the phone.
- Text input, settings menus, programs, Etc

However, the "notifications" remain in Chinese

Example:
- Are you sure you want to delete this message/thread?
- All calendar dates and months are still in chinese, but the interface is in English

Sorta stuck on this, and despite the fact that it will improve my chinese I would like to remedy this.....

Is there anywhere else I can go to change language settings apart from the location section in setting?

is anyone else having issues when docking their droid? my screen will go to clock mode, but if i push the home button, my home screen is blank- all my shortcuts to apps dissapear- is that happening for anyone else? i end up having to do a re-start.

- also, since the update, if i am listening to audio books or video with headphones, occationally and randomly my music will start playing- saw some other people write this somewhere- am not sure if it is conected to hitting a button, or moving the headphone jack wrong- been trying to pay attention to when this exact glitch happens, strange though that this is happening to some droids with 2.1 but not all...

Is it just me or am I lost. My GPS mapping works great until I loose towers. At this point (when I really need it) the GPS is non functional. Is it suppose to be this way and if so what were they thinking?

Before I updated my system, I was able to one touch dial. Now it will not save my one touch dialing numbers. I am wondering if there is a fix for this.

Thanks,
jbjaw21
