2.1... Confirmed!!

well I for one contacted the only word I could trust. I sent out a letter a month ago to Santa clause. I asked him about the hero 2.1 update. he said it'll actually be a 2.3.1 update that'll come out April 4th. so there ya have it. from the man himself

I just spit water all over my keyboard when I read that.

it will be out when it comes out. Sometime between ten seconds ago and the end of june. Until it's out, there's no sense in going on and on about when it's going to be released...so please stop with the pointless threads about how 2.1 is coming, and you know a date because some moron at sprint tech support told you so.

thank youuuuuuuuuuuuuuu

I called customer service...they confirmed that they heard it was the 25th or the 26th. He wasn't sure when, but thats what they were told. He said that COULD change, but as of now thats looking like when it will be available.

Also noted that it would be available OTA.

Take that for what its worth.

Dick (1:34pm): Good afternoon sir, can I help you.

Mark (1:34pm): Yes, I have a problem. I purchased a Sprint Hero with the understanding that it will be upgraded to Android 2.1. This is important because 1.5 is a truly awful version that doesn't allow me to do anything. I can't make calls, I can't run apps and it takes several hours to boot up. I didn't know any of this before I bought it (that would have required me to research my purchase, which clearly isn't reasonable). I understand that the upgrade to 2.1 will automate all my calls (I no longer need to speak to anyone, which - for a geek like me - is perfect), it will run all apps (from Android, IPhone or the huge Windows Phone Marketplaces). I also believe it will start in 0.0000023 seconds and deliver a health care reform package which everyone will enjoy and celebrate together in peaceful harmony. So, I am quite interested in when it will be available.

Dick (1:35pm): Hold on sir, I will check.

Dick (1:38pm): I am pleased to tell you I have an answer, sir. The update will be available.

Mark (1:40pm): Yes?

Dick (1:41pm): Yes, that's right sir - it will be available. Isn't that exciting?

Mark (1:41pm): When?

Dick (1:42pm): It will be exciting when its available.

Mark (1:43): Can you give me a specific date?

Dick (1:45pm): No, I am afraid not. But I can assure you sure that Sprint has stopped development of all other phones and will be delaying the release of the 4G phones for 6 months while it works on the Hero 2.1 upgrade. We understand the pure agony of using 1.5 and we're surprised you stuck with us this long. With version 1.5 on it the Hero is obviously akin to a wet potato and makes calls just as well. Obviously when you signed up we told you what a sucky phone it was and made promises that the upgrade would be available just a day or so after you bought it (although we didn't consider the health care thing, so that's adding a day or two - Obama has been slow to help with the beta testing). So, sorry about that.

Mark (1:47pm): I am speechless. I am now making a threat to you!!! I will personally promise to call every single Sprint representative until it is released. I have all their personal phone numbers. I'll keep doing this until the release is available, even if it takes me well into April. And if it ships in April then clearly it will have been my pressure that did the trick. And I am serious - calling endless numbers of Sprint folks is clearly a winners game. And I have the time - it's not like I have a life or anything. This is clearly the most important thing to me (if that health care thing doesn't work out, don't delay shipping the update - that's a nit compared to getting the update to me).

Dick (1:49pm): OK, sir. Thank you. Rest assured the company is quaking in its boots and we'll do everything we can to get this to you very soon.

Sometimes people put LOL's now-a-days even if they didn't literally "LOL"...

Well I seriously f***ing LOL'ed my ass off as this post! hahaa.

I hope you know that 99.9% of these employee's don't have a clue about what is going on in other departments. I have seen official sprint correspondence that says managers should start telling their employee's that NO update is coming in march at all, and maybe not even april. I wouldn't put too much stock in this at all.

Well I hope it is friday because I've talk to three sprint reps one said friday, the other said April, and the third said they could pull up any info on the matter at all. This confusion is making me dizzy and sick. I really wish they would get it together.

Or you could just wait.

I'm finding this thread really funny.

I'm feeling a bit queasy as well ... but I can't decide just exactly who should I blame? I'm going to go with Osama Bin Laden. What?! Do you have better information?

Eaglesfan9106-im completely inclined to say chuck norris is going to scissor kick you in the back of the head for saying such nonsense

Where did you guys Find Chuck Norris ? Ive been looking for him to rake my yard. He's probably playing with his 2.1 Droid.

Ok. Ok. He'll kill me for saying this, but you guys are partially right. One day Chuck was kicking Steven Jobs so hard they went forward in time and ended up at the secret Sprint/HTC labs. Chuck saw the Hero with 2.1 and decided only he could have it. Continuing to kick SJ he traveled back to the present and killed the HTC/Sprint 2.1 product team.

HTC EVO HUH? what did you do take a time machine and get it and come back? LOL

Chuck Norris is running Android 3.1 on his HTC Hero... But it is only used in case he decides to be simple and not whip out his HTC Hero-VR (Virtual Reality) that weighs less than a fart, has infinite storage and a resolution of a billion peta-pixels in 3D Holodeck mode (it is actually in 4D, but you are incapable of understanding the 4th dimension). The interface is an indigo-tooth mind link.

But the amazing thing is that just for Chuck, Sprint supports tethering.

You unbelievers simply don't understand the extent of his power.

EDIT: But even Chuck can't get the battery to last more than a day.
