No handcent problems? My first text went through 3 times and I gave up before I drove everyone crazy.

Smacky.. really. Where did I not take responsibility? This is getting annoying, even with the smirky face.

I was just wondering what that user data is in google contacts.. when you go to gmail from a web browser. It seems like maybe it saves their profile # automatically.

Is there a way to not have apps like footprints and amazon mp3 store open? There are a few more that seem like they auto launch in 2.1.. or is that just in there.

Oh that.... I think it just adds that after you link to facebook from your phone. It is nothing you have to do. Just enter name address phone etc, whatever you want .

As for the background apps, I am not sure why they want to stay running. But i have gotten better battery life since upgrade, and they don't seem to be using CPU unless they are running, so I just leave them alone.

I know other people have said they had issues, but mine has been fine. Just set the split options in settings to "simple split" and things seem to work.

hey keg.. all I said is Im not super impressed so far. Heres a suggestion.. stop reading this, and go read other threads.. then we will all be happy. This isnt some grand agenda.. its just one dude saying 2.1 has been a headache.. and I like, but dont love android. Talk about fan boys. Google's not giving you kickbacks.. and you paid for it. Last I checked a person is allowed to be critical of something they pay $100 a month for.

Can I just say this was not the official release of 2.1.....

So by downloading and installing it, you took the chance of it being a headache. Funny though, I installed it once, and have noticed a performance boost, better battery life as a whole, and ZERO of the problems you mentioned.

If you want a headache, try using the phone on the Iphone, that constantly drops calls on AT&Ts network lol.

oh that's a really interesting perspective. I totally didn't think of that. So you're telling me I can't blame Verizon?

amazing.
all "slop bot" did was say -do not use the russian/chinese/whatever rogue 2.1 update.
That he/she had numerous issues with the unofficial update.
tough crowd

Thank you.. and I thought only Apple users pounced this hard.

Dude you have not contributed one useful statement in your last 15 posts, you just clog ish up. Do everyone a favor and STFU

Speaking of reading comprehension....read what I said. No where in their did I say you were blaming Verizon.

So you're telling me I can blame verizon?

ok.. ill stfu.. and take my not working great phone into a corner.. actually im going to try the good advice I got on here and reflash it.. (ahhh ahhhhhh <---flash theme song.. or is that me being old)

Yes and no, he also said he was not impressed with 2.1, and we said we are not having the same issues he is having. But all this aside...

2.1 leak = big upgrade over 1.5

It's better than anything Windows mobile has ever had to offer, and it runs on a much better network than the Iphone. The Iphone has it's issues as well. Also remember, the IPhone has been in circulation much longer as a mass than the Android has. The Android system is still very new, but from what I have read, it's projected to take over the Iphone network in the future.

By installing an operating system that was not authorized by the carrier you are complaining about paying $100 to.

actually I said I wasnt super impressed with either.. that was my big mistake..shoulda kept that to myself.

What do you mean by the quote? Curious.

smaky.. i know my not working well phone is my fault. If I was a skywriter Id put it in the sky for you.. with a big giant heart.

I have read from some so called "experts" that the Android phones are projected to be the more widely used smartphone and overtaking the Iphone user base in that department.

Sadly they are going to have to dumb them down a bit for that to happen. They are too complicated for your average person. (<---opinion)

Well you have to remember too, that the Android phones (as of right now) are going to be offered on more cellular networks than the Iphone, which gives it the flexibility to be offered to more users. That being said, I have heard rumors of the Iphone coming to Verizon as well. As I said, this is just what the so called "Experts" have said. I also think the Android system will be dumbed down in the future, but to me, the best way to get people interested, is to get the advanced average users to like it first, because as a whole, the average user always looks to the advance user for advice and opinions.

I might actually backpedal on my statement.. I forgot about blackberrys those things are so complicated and it doesn't stop all sorts of people, including my mom and dad from using them.

I went for android to stay with verizon (even though it doesnt work at my house) and Im over giving apple money. I feel kinda robbed by them.

I feel robbed everytime I see an iPhone.

Hey slop bot, was there some apps you installed after you flashed to 2.1? You may have installed something that is not quite compatible with 2.1.

I've been trying to think of that. I tried handicent but got the multiple text thing right away so i uninstalled. And I installed the back up program so I could get my back up back, but didn't install my apps. Maybe pulling my address book off the card? Come to think of it I think that froze a time or two before it worked. I just reflashed it and havent installed anything. Got my address book from gmail this time.

I'm sorry to be the downer here.. but after a few days with it I can safely say that 2.1 sucks. In 3 months with the phone I never had as much trouble as the past three days.. today i tried to show a friend a youtube video (no sound), take a picture (camera crashed) and call someone (no sound.. had to restart phone). Ive had crashes galore, it seems slow.. and I am so tired of having to login to my stupid gmail over and over..

I used to like this phone.. now it's useless. I don't even use it for much.. so I cant even imagine how frustrating it is for someone who uses it all day. I wish I could go back to 1.5.. or get off android all together. Do you really have to be logged into gmail all the time? I dont want gmail.. I just want a phone..

1) Shouldn't have downloaded a LEAKED, UNFISHED, UNOFFICIAL ROM.
2) You knew what you were getting yourself into.
3) Should have done your research before getting a GOOGLE based phone.

Didn't bother reading all the replys.
So if someone said it before me.. +1 to ya!

This thread is turning into a flame-fest and is going round in circles. Advice to the OP: Try re-flashing your phone, if that doesn't work, then I would suggest going to the thread where you got your ROM for trouble shooting, as every ROM is different.

This 2.1 update is an unofficial leak and therefore comes with risks. I would advise everyone considering doing it to research it before making any commitment to upgrading.

This thread is now closed.
