This is the funniest thread I've read in a long time. I could care less about 2.1 updates but all the responses are awesome!
 
I have to thank the OP for starting this thread. He should win an Oscar for the best use of "I know a guy". I LMAO all the way through it. This was the best string of responses for a false os update report. Absolutely hilarious. Title should be changed to "2.1 (t)rolling out".

Well, some of it is funny.

Some of it is venting, and some of that is demeaning to this forum website.

Some of it is demeaning to mentally handicapped people ("r e t a r d e d") who did not chose their condition and who fight ten times as hard to survive in the world among those who judge and bully them.

Overall I'd say that this thread has a sad tinge to it, in addition to the mean-spirited tinge we find in other threads around here lately.

What gives me hope here is not the anticipation of the update most here seem so obsessed about, but the threads in these forums which contain information and maybe some humor, but with little or none of what could drag this forum down to the level of so many others out there with a tiny fraction of the population of this one.

While I do agree that using wording that is, or could be, demeaning to a group of people as whole is wrong and should never be condoned, I think most of this thread was toned with humor more than anything. I think some people just take things and themselves way too seriously. This is, after all, a social forum and damnit, people love to be social. People have to remember something. There are all different walks of life on here and what you may think is wrong or demeaning is just an opinion you have. I'm not saying that I don't agree with your opinions, but I am just one person. Different cultures see thing entirely differently. Keep that in mind.
 
Care to explain how your dad accidentally thought he had 2.1? Fine that you missed on the update but why did he think he had it in the first place?
