2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

I talked to my verizon rep for my store. He laughed when I told him that I had put the leak on the phone. He verified that he had been told that the ota was coming to leakers and that it should be available very soon. Thankfully, he also told me that if his information turned out to be wrong that he would switch out my phone with a new eris for free. I tried to work the deal to an incredible instead but no deal.
I'm hoping that the ota will get rid of this damn 50% no signal thing. My phone is now losing signal in places where it used to be fine. I just want my phone to work where I need it to work. Is that so hard to ask?
 
Quick question. I've seen the cell standby bug a few times on here and know how to fix it. My phone shows cell standby at 49% but time without signal is 0%. Is this the same thing? The first day I had 2.1 I put in airplane mode for about 5 minutes and it fixed the issue. It is not working like that now. Am I doing something wrong?

not yet but you gotta have patience, or else your gonna be pulling your hair out. devs are working on rooting leak users, also hopefully we get the OTA and it changes our HBOOT to give us root ability. just breath play some games and relax all in due time :cool:
 
Had to have my eris replaced Friday night so I have OTA release, however just before that I was told via tweet by a vzwsupport that leakers WILL get the OTA by the 24th. Just curious, has anyone gotten it yet?
 
I assume I got it. I had purchased a few NBA Apps made by the actual NBA and there disappeared when I was on v2 and v3. They disappeared from the Market Place completely. They're now back.

How can I tell if I have the actual OTA update? Aren't the version numbers the same>

This V3 leaker hasn't got it yet, and I'm not holding my breath until I do, either. I'm thinking that I won't get it OTA, but eventually the leaks will be rooted or Verizon will post a manual update that will work with the leaks.

Those apps are back because the Eris was officially listed as a phone with 2.1 in the market, so your phone, with 2.1, was able to start seeing those apps again.

You'd know if you received the OTA - there was a specific system update notification that kicked it off. It was pretty distinctive.
 
Got a nice email from Big Red this afternoon. It said they already pushed the OTA to my phone. I am on leak v3......... Guess what????? Never received what they report they sent me.

Any leakers still waiting for the OTA...... This confirms that v3 is the official 2.1 OS for the Eris. Nuff said.

Got the same e-mail and am on leak v2. Still did not get the OTA, so I don't think you can jump to that conclusion.

I was waiting until last night. Decided to load v3. Wife's phone is still on v2 and has the silent speaker bug.
 
Ok don't wanna excite anyone but I did a hard reset on my Eris about 20 min ago and I think I forced the ota update cause now I updated maps got no navigation with the blue arrow, got new widgets in my get more widgets folder I haven't seen before, my weather clock is messing up like the update other people got. I was on leak 3 and I think since I did that reset it fixed my phone but now its all buggy, but with new stuff. What's going on here.

the OTA update would have taken you through the entire setup process just as you went through when you installed the leak version... i'm on leak v3 and I also have the navigation blue arrow in my maps...
 
I know that but I have leak 3 too and when I did this reset and updated the maps to get the blue arrow (navigator) I didn't get it again. What would be the cause of that

Okay, so I preformed the manual download of the 2.2 OTA that Frisco posted earlier. I left my origional v.3 2.1 leak on my SD card and everything booted up fine with the instructions from Android Central.

Dunno if this made any difference but my phone is working much faster (it's only been about a half hour). Everything seems more crisp and effective than before. Again, this may just be because I re-installed the leaked firmware on the phone again but I figured I'd add my 2 cents.

so..to clear this up :

1) If I'm on leak v3 there is no OTA upgrade

2) There is no manual upgrade to the OTA

3) There is a manual upgrade to 2.2 ? (need a link !)
 
could someone please post a pic of the software information page of the OTA. someone that was on 1.5 and actually waited and got the OTA. i would like to compare to mine. thanks!
