I'm wondering the same thing. If I get it, I would like to know how to share it with people.
 
After installing the Maps update, I restarted Sense UI and the "Navigation" app appeared in my app launcher. Very nice. I was previously using a 3rd party app for that purpose.

It also says that it is mandatory. That whole first, overview section:

This update includes enhancements for your DROID ERIS by HTC. You cannot use your phone/make emergency calls during this optional update.

Some settings/applications will change back to default, but may be resynced/reset following the completion of the upgrade.

I'm in northeast Ohio along with 7 other Eris owners and no update here. I call BS on the update. Verizon tech just said no updates have rolled out anywhere yet. Who knows...
 
I bet you tomorrow is when people start confirming they got it just wait it out I got the 3rd leak and I'm not stressing

I just got a text update from HTC's twitter....it says "For those of you who dont follow@VZWSupport the Android 2.1 update for Droid Eris started rolling out today" ..... hmmmmm

Running 2.1 v3 leak. Just did a *#*#checkin#*#* and suddenly copy protected apps that I could not get in the market before are available so this is promising. I did notice there are some features that appear to still be missing/hidden in the 3rd leak so I am anxious for the final official release. Anyone have it yet? Anyone seen it posted on the interwebs anywhere?
 
Where is the Google maps update? I didn't get it. Also, how do I back up my apps to the memory card before I get the update (whenever that is)

Welcome!

Nobody's seen it yet. But just keep watching here and eventually news (good or bad) will arrive.

So far today *#*#checkin#*#* has afforded no result from what I've read. Just app updates.
 
Okay, NOW I will start holding my breath. When I woke up this afternoon, I looked at my phone and saw...














...an update from HTC confirming all the hype. So, in my books, it's for real. I will get off my soapbox now.
