2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

I remember everyone trying to figure out a "pattern" when we got MR2... with no luck. I wonder if they would follow the same pattern with this OTA.

I speculated last time if it has anything to do with the MEID? But The realist in me is saying that the really is no rhyme or reason. It really is just random. Well at least as random as statistics would allow ;).

Does anyone remember what day the MR2 started rolling out? The reason I ask is that last time I woke up on that Sunday at 2:00am and looked at my phone to see what time it was and there was the MR2 update. I wonder if that might put it in a general time frame for the 2.1 update.

Columbus OH. Woke up at 750 am today and was notified about system update. downloaded and installed while getting ready for work.

joeshamburger @VZWSupport i got leak 2.1 v3 with same

I gave up on my Eris. Too many problems since i got it back in November. Finally a week ago they gave me the Incredible. I actually like the Eris better IF it can work well! Here is my question...If i am using my incredible, and my eris is deactivated, if i switch back to the eris and reactivate it, will the update still be available? Or, does it have to be activated when they try to push it out to it? Also, any slim chance that the eris would get the update even if not actiavted but yet turned on? Please advise!

i'm gonna monitor my bars and dBm for the next 20 mins and post the results

Ok, here we go. I put my phone on my desk, turn the screen timeout off, and monitored the changes for 20 minutes... any time I saw a change, I wrote it down. Not sure if you can draw any conclusions other than there seems to be no correlation...

I know... I'm just curious to see if there is a difference in the install process. Being that the OTA is only 77MB and isn't a clean install - rather an upgrade over the 1.5 system and since the 50% bug wasn't present in 1.5 (as far as I know)...

My PRL is also different... same as yours - 51866

Could this be the culprit? Who knows...
PRL stands for Preferred Routing List and can be different for different phone features from Verizon as well as different geographical location. It has nothing to do with phone software. The most recent list for your phone is available from *228 Option 2.

Check to see if you can save the OTA.zip file!

what is the possibility of them pushing out the OTA during the day....or will they just push it out in the wee hours of the morning? I can't remember how they did it with teh MR2 update.

you should get the update after you reactivate it.

Guys the update is completely random. Has nothing to do with where you live, your hair color, or how many times you Check-in.

*bangs head against wall*

We've been waiting for MONTHS and MONTHS for this update. Now its rolling out so waiting another day or two for it to reach my phone is really no big deal. I don't know what the fascination is with being the FIRST to get it....
