2.1 OTA Beginning 5/11/2010

What I do not understand is how fast the ota was available for the moto droid to download but the eris still has yet to post

Different hardware, different code, different programs - the OS isn't "one size fits all". Changes have to be made for each model, and it's quite possible there were some issues with the Eris version that delayed releasing it.

Well, 10,000 people the first day... and we've gotten what, two, three members reporting it? Probably about right. By tomorrow I'd guess it will be an influx.

I have a hard time understanding how people don't understand that the Droid is not a HTC phone. I don't understand how people don't understand that the Droid is not the Eris.

I don't understand how people don't understand that just because one phone had a certain OTA schedule, doesn't mean it pertains to every OTA's release schedule.

I don't understand how some people don't understand the value of patience.

Ok...I'll ask again.....I'll try to be nice too...lol

How do you go about deleting your cashes?
Thank you in advance for taking time to answer my noob question. (noob refered to me)

Do yourself and all of us a favor and do a little browsing on this site. Everything you need to know is, ironically, in the "Everything about your Droid Eris" sticky'd thread. :D

I just heard from a top secret source that the OTA updater checks your browser cache for any references to Androidforums.com and puts you on the "subversives" watchlist if it finds any. We are then booted to the back of the OTA update line.

Excuse me then and thank you....I'll try that route. Sorry to be a burdon.

I dont understand why some people are douches. All I was mentioning was the moto droid ota was available to download within a few hours of it being released...sheesh

Sorry I hurt your feelings, its just that when numerous up numerous posts in this thread detail how the OTA is being rolled out, some people still don't understand it.

ha, glad i hadn't posted on here before the update.

I know how the ota is being rolled out. I just remembered that by the end off the initial launch day for the moto update there were several sites that had posted a link to download the ota rather than wait.

Im done

I call BS, If the ota was coming to your phone, and then checks your cache? then manually removes its self from your phone and puts you back at the bottom of the "ota list" that seems a bit impossible and completly stupid on verizons part i think your full of it
the ota is being released in the 4 regions of the US and dooing each region one at a time, so theyre servers dont crash like apples did when it released the 2.0 software up date

Because the Eris is not being made anymore..
What has that got to do with it? The update is completely unrelated to the manufacturing status.

Dude, he's not full of it, he's just joking. It was a tongue-in-cheek comment, make people smile a bit.
