You can leave it on all the time unless you happen to have an app that is constantly pinging it. Most just turn it on occasionally (if at all) to update their position and then turn it back off (idle).

Not sure its all that much better than 1.5. Seems a little laggy STILL. Anyone know how to keep the XT9/ABC option on the keyboard to stay on ABC? Everytime i exit keyboard it goes back to XT9. On 1.5 i would only have to change it one time, after phone was restarted then it would stay on ABC.

From what I understand it has nothing to do with receiving it. It will still come to your phone. Just when you try to install it it will tell you you need to make space.

It has been close to 8hrs since I got the OTA running here is a quick summary of what I think!
1. Love the Sat / Nav - as good as any I've used before, used it twice today and was precise each time.
2. Phone is deffo running faster and smoother, i had no issues with 1.5 but must say 2.1 feels better.
3. being able to access the 7 screens is brilliant, just like using expose on my imac.
4. Had call lag only on one call, i saw the # come up by chance, it rang about 1 sec later & then the name of who was calling showed, this was a contact from Fave's as well.
Gonna play more and see what else I can learn. Does anyone know where I can find toggles for BT, GPS, WIFI etc? I had them before and don't remember how I got them. Another thing I'd like to know is how to turn off the sms alert after I've sent one??? I will browse and try and find the answers as well.

the toggles are when you click the add button (+)> Android Widget>Power Control
The annoying message when you send a message can be turned off by going to messages>menu>settings>scroll down to sent messages> un-check "sent notification"

Stated numerous times, the Eris does not have live wallpapers (processor not big enough) and pinch to zoom maps.

The old ones are: click the +, the HTC Widgets/Settings/ then there are five of them, Airplane mode, BT, GPS, Mobile network, and Wi-Fi. Took me a week to find the GPS one.

Just be patient. My wife got hers two days ago and I am still waiting for my update. If you did not get the update within a week then download the update manually.

I agree. I think Google Maps is a better navigation GPS than any others that I have and I have two in my cars (both German) as well as two Garmins.

Us too. We just got he update on the Eris. I'm glad her eris caught up to my Incredible. Still slower overall due to the processor but it's much less laggy than before. Very happy they finally came up with the upgrade. It seems to be working well. Had to re-sync all the info and works. 77.7 megabyte upload took forever.
