Help 2.1 Problems - Issues - Quirks

There are probably hundreds of HTC Hero and Moment users with problems yet a handful of EVO users prompts Sprint to take action. Granted, I have yet to hear of a bricked Hero or Moment, but the problems we're experiencing are very disruptive are probably affecting an exponentially larger group of customers than this handful of EVO users.

It's only because the EVO is the newest phone out of the three, the Hero and Moment are old news to Sprint. :(

I am not certain if this issue has been addressed, but I am finding this to be extremely frustrating.

Is there a way to sync ONLY My Contacts from gmail rather than all those random e-mail addresses that google adds through e-mails?

I know everyone says to go under "Groups" in the People app and to use the "Sync All" or "Sync Groups" options, but under the Groups section, I have only have "Add Group" and "Delete Group."

I have groups on there that I've never made with 0 contacts in them (Co-workers, Family, Favorites, Friends, and VIP).

I just want a way to have 200 some contacts and not 1300. I have the option set to only show contacts with numbers, but when I am typing a name to text or to e-mail, they still come up.

I apologize if a resolution has already been found - I just have not been able to locate one that seems to fit me.

Thanks so much.

I understand this but I purchased my Hero only a few months ago. These phones are still being sold and I have yet to see Sprint advertise that the phones have reached the end of their update life cycles. Omitting something like that while advertising that purchasing an Android phone gives you "ongoing enhancements to your phone's capabilities" seems fraudulent to me.

I've been having a problem since upgrading to 2.1 in which I often cannot type into text boxes. It doesn't matter if it is a text message or a search box, I will click in the box to get the cursor there and start typing and nothing will appear at all. I'll even sometimes get Android's popup suggestions for words I am typing but can't submit the text because there isn't any text to submit. Sometimes I'll have to exit out of the app and go back in and after a few attempts it eventually works. I can't see any pattern, though, so it's not something I can reproduce at will but it happens very often.

It looks like Apple may be facing a class-action lawsuit over the iPhone4 reception issues if people hold the phone in the "wrong" way. Sprint HTC Hero users have been plagued with far more disruptive bugs since the phone was released and now Sprint is refusing to even upgrade to 2.2. It seems to me that HTC Hero users have a much stronger basis for a class-action suit. Maybe it's time to start emailing Kershaw, Cutter & Ratinoff, LLP about this.

Another quirk I've experienced is that the time in the top status bar of the Hero will sometimes show a completely incorrect time. This morning it was off by about 45 minutes.

FWIW, I finally got bluetooth working the way it used to in 1.5.

I flashed Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed w/apps2sd 6/22/2010 and then the HoneyBun 710 OC Kernel. Not sure what caused the fix, but I now have BT connections as I did in 1.5...

YMMV

NOW....THIS IS VERY INTERESTING! What are the downsides to this particular ROM? What does/doesn't work in it? I'm contemplating using this if it promises to make my Bluetooth work with the Hero again....

It's just the stock 2.1 (.6) Sprint ROM with root access. So, you can run any root applications you want, remove bloatware, wifi tether, OC, etc. Not sure of any disadvantages. It's just a base ROM that you can work with.

So far, I have found no problems with it.

I dont really want to go back and read 9 pages of thread but at any point has HTC manned up and said they would address these issues or said if there is a remedy? Im about a month into this "software upgrade" if you can even call it that. And I am ready to throw my phone into a wall. The random reboots at least a minimum of 10 times a day the lagging, and I can go on and on. From what HTC told me a good "handful" of people are having problems. It seems like sprint doesnt care and htc isnt in a hurry to keep people loyal to their products.

I can tell you it is much more than a handful, the issue is many do not have time or the patience to be bothered by calling or complaining, I myslelf have had Sprint replace 3 phones and still have most of these issues, so only a handful of peeps do call in, if everyone having these issue clogged up the HTC and Sprint phone lines I bet your bottom dollar they would do something about it, but if all the couch potatoes keep quiet and stop scanning through the threads for a fix and decided to do something about it they will have no choice but to sh** or get of the pot JMO

I am beginning to worry that HTC is going to go through the same process that Palm went through: Come out with a good product, ignore customer problems/complaints, lose customers.
In my own company and my previous, successful company, I was totally blown away when a customer had/has a problem and would do everything I could to make him/her happy. I just don't understand how HTC can ignore these problems. I am REALLY glad I stuck with 1.5, but I sure wish they would fix these bugs so I can feel comfortable upgrading!
BTW, even if everyone is not constantly complaining to HTC, I would think that Sprint must be getting bad feedback from their stores.

I just ordered the Hero this morning and now this thread is scaring the crap out of me.
Keep in mind that most of the comments on a forum involve complaints, and how to fix somthing. The folks who are very happy, rarely go to forums, unless they are geeks...hehe

You'll be fine. IF you do have any issues, we are here to help!

I haven't seen this on here yet... sorry if it is. Has anyone else's metal plate on the bottom with the buttons come loose? Mine shows more light around the edges and moves back and forth pretty easily. And also the finish on the back of the phone discolors very easily. I use a black leather holster and the black rubbed off in spots and also a red silicone cover and it rubbed a pink color off onto the back of the phone (the battery cover) just mentioning a couple issues I hadn't seen on here.

One issue I may have missed reading all nine pages of this thread was the fact that my Hero since upgrading to 2.1 no longer vibrates for any reason. I know that many here are reporting a vibrate on dialing but this is just the opposite. None on phone calls, messaging, or email. I've gone over all of the settings multiple times and tried them checked and unchecked. Anyone else experiencing this?

Sprint Hero 2.1 non-rooted.

The one thing I have noticed is that since the low memory error has came into play all the other issues dissapeared. No more force closes or laggy apps.

No more laggy phone or dialer either

When away from home I used my Hero as modem for my laptop - it was brilliant and had great connection speeds. Since the upgrade I get nothing, my laptop says it can detect new internet connection but can't connect using it. I've tried everything....
Anyone else had this problem?

Ok I know that these questions probably all ready have been addressed, but there are alot of threads, and I don't have time to go thru them. so here goes:

1st off, I can't seem to use the keyboards from the market. I bought the Smart keyboard pro on my phone when it had the 1.5 on it, but now since the update, I can't use that keyboard.

My phone lags soooooo much right now since the update.

Also when I'm making a phone call, it takes up to a min for the phone to actually start calling the person. Even when someone is calling me, my phone won't ring on my end till the second or third ring.

When I'm texting someone, the words won't show up half of the time in the display screen....

HELP:confused::confused::confused:

I have all the same problems. I recently wiped my phone and tried to root but cant figure out how to. Nothing is better since the wipe either.

The most annoying thing is when i'm trying to make a call and the minute or two lag before it actually shows that its calling. Most the time i end up making a conference call to the same person.

i have two questions im a noob also...i tried rooting my phone but got to confused so just stopped...so i downloaded the new update from sprint for my hero...im guessing its the 2.1 but idk why it says 2.27.651.6...and the other question i had was if they are gonna fix it to where the hero can get live wallpapers or not?:confused:
