Help 2.1 Problems - Issues - Quirks

Ok I'm an idiot!! My phone is ringing now! I don't know what the problem was but it's apparently not a problem now!

I'm NOT an idiot!! Nor am I losing my mind!! My phone doesn't always ring when I get a call. Sometimes it does, sometimes it doesn't.
Has anyone else noticed this?
 
I was going nuts trying to figure out how I had speed dial work on 1.5, and why couldn't I set it up on 2.1, for those that care, select number in the people file and hold the button down, screen pops up you can add the speed dial, glad we didn't lose that, especially since my bluetooth doesn't work anymore!

You can zoom with the phone in portrait position...just slide your finger on the screen from left to right or vice-verse.

I downloaded some ringtones off myxer and everything went well and I downloaded them ... the problem i'm having is that .. i noticed there was a lock on the file but I could play it but I couldn't use the file as a ringtone ... can someone help me with this issue

I read posts a long time ago warning not to download stuff from myxer because it will save to internal memory instead of SD and then you can't delete it unless you do a hard reset
 
Is anyone else having a problem with their mail widget showing unread messages? Mine displays I have however many number of unread messages but after I read them the number still appears and does not go away. I am using the mail app and a Yahoo email address. Anyone else seeing anything like this?
 
I have not really noticed lag on the portrait keyboard. I've paired my GPS to my car, my Motorola S9's and my Motorola H12. I've also paired it to a Windows 7 machine, osX Leopard, and Kubuntu and shared files between the phone and the computers. It all seems to work fine. I will agree that the camera controls in landscape is a bit odd, but it seems like a bug more than a choice. I was using barcode scanner and AsciiCamera, and both of them are stuck in landscape mode. it seems that the accelerometer is not reporting the orientation of the phone to these camera-based apps in the correct manner.
 
After having my phone on for the entire day since updating to the 2.1 RUU last night, I received a phone call (without knowing the # of rings, but before the voicemail picked up) no problem. Then after about an hour of playing more on the phone, i decided to check how many rings it took for the phone to register the call.... I tried 4 times, each time, the cell phone never even received the land line phone call. Once, the cell (HTC's Hero with Sprint) got the call but right before going to mail. WTF?!
I finally shut it down, removed the battery, and the phone registered in between the 2nd and 3rd ring from the same land line. Hope this isn't going to be an ongoing issue.... >.> .... <.< .... >.>
 
I am disappointed they don't have talk to text. I really wanted that. My moment got it with 2.1 on mine it takes much longer to load my text messages. It's also typing very slow when in landscape or in general when on the browser. Also when I delete email from the email widget it looses its spot after deleting 10 or so. It also doesnt show the email after that many. I have to flip it up an email then down to show anything. Oh for the text messaging I have vibrate and noise turned off. It goes fine on the little qwery. But not for landscape on texting. I'm not very impressed with this update at all.
 
Try downloading Handcent SMS to replace the text messaging app. It's awesome, you can really personalize much better & it has voice to text. It didn't work for crap on 1.5 though. I haven't tried it on 2.1 yet. Good luck!

I HAVE THIS PROBLEM!!!!! I posted about it in another forum. If this is going to be a problem this phone is gone & so is Sprint!! I posted about it in another thread but thought I'd look around & see if anyone else is having problems. Someone said they were having the same problem & just did a soft reset on their phone. I've done that but haven't been able to get anyone to call me yet to see if it worked. I'll let you know. :)
 
I'm missing a widget!

I had widget that would toggle bluetooth on/off without going through the settings. It was probably the one I used the most. So, did I just not look far enough? Ideas"

Press "+" button. Widget > Settings > Bluetooth
 
My auto backlight doesn't work. well, it'll work if i turn it off, then back on again. But as soon as i put to phone back to sleep, it's stuck again.
 
Keyboard is fast in email, and text. But the entire dialer is very laggy. And sometimes in a menu tree, the phone will open up a second line, and start dialing the numbers you entered. And put the actual call on hold.

UPDATE FIX- For those of you having issues with the vol. keys not snoozing the alarm. Go to the alarm and press menu/settins then click on Side Button Action. It should say None, Snooze, and Dismiss. Press the Snooze option and it should work.

Tried this. It was set to snooze when i first looked at it. Changed it to dismiss, then back to snooze and it still doesn't work. But hitting the back button turned it off, now i'm just waiting to see if it dismisses to alarm, or if it'll come back on in 5 minutes...

Oh, trying to hit the snooze on the screen this morning didn't work. I had to dismiss it by sliding down. Nothing happened when i hit snooze, the alarm kept going off.
 
Ok, hitting the back button is like hitting snooze. I assume that any of the buttons on the bottom of the phone will snooze the alarm.
 
The whole snooze no longer being the volume rocker really sucks.

The FB sync with the numbers and emails of people not in the phonebook is kinda annoying. At least they are not actually in the people application (for me at least).

One thing that changed that is annoying is that whenever you click on the notification for a new Gmail message, it opens the Gmail message instead of going to the inbox. It's really annoying when I have like 5 emails and it opens the last one which I would have rather deleted anyway. Anybody have a solution for that? I checked the settings and can't find anything.

I found that you can hit the back or home buttons to snooze the alarm. Haven't tried the menu or search yet.

As for opening the gmail message, i don't have that issue. when i get a new one, or more than one, and use the notification bar to open gmail, it goes right to my inbox.
 
Any idea why in the people section it gives me the option to send text messages to every number that is listed for every contact now? Fax, business, home...all numbers have the option to send text messages to them for some reason. Is there a setting somewhere to make this an option for mobile numbers only?
