2.1-update 1 ??

Hey.. I got a OTA update this morning and can't find out what it was for! Any help would be appreciated... thanks

It's an update that prepares your phone to recieve the proper 2.1 update. You can read about it on HTC's website:

Does this apply to all Heros? I have a UK Orange obne - will I have to wait for Orange to issue this or will I get it like evrybody else? I have not received it yet and just wondering when and if I will.

Yeah, whenever people have emailed HTC they've said everybody will get the two updates.

I found out about this through this thread. Is there a way to sign up for some sort of notification when updates are available?

Your phone should, in theory, tell you when the updates are available (so long as you have a data connection). I don't know how regularly it checks though.
